2011–12 Belgian Second Division
The 2011–12 season of the Belgian Second Division (also known as EXQI League for sponsorship reasons) started in August 2011 and is the second tier football league in Belgium. The league is played by 18 teams, with 34 matchdays of 9 matches each, so each team plays the 17 other teams twice. The season is divided into 3 periods, the first period of 10 matches, the second of 12 matches and the third of 12 matches. Each period winner qualifies for the Belgian Second Division final round. On 14 April 2012, Charleroi became champions without playing as closest rivals Eupen and Oostende both did not manage to win their matches and thereby could no longer mathematically overtake Charleroi in the standings. Belgian Second Division
The Belgian Second Division was the second-highest division in the Belgian football league system, one level below the Belgian Pro League. It was founded by the Royal Belgian Football Association in 1909 and folded in 2016, when it was replaced by the Belgian First Division B (known as the Proximus League for sponsorship reasons)). Vital Borkelmans
Vital Philomene Borkelmans (born 10 June 1963) is a Belgian football coach and a former left fullback who mainly played for Club Brugge (350 matches with that club), in the Belgian First Division. Club career He also played for Patro Eisden, SV Waregem, Gent and Cercle Brugge. International career Borkelmans made his debut for Belgium in an August 1989 friendly match against Denmark, coming on as an 80th-minute substitute for Danny Boffin, and earned a total of 22 caps, scoring no goals. He was in the team for the 1994 and 1998 World Cups. His final international was at the latter tournament, in June 1998 against South Korea. Dennis Van Wijk
Dennis Johannes van Wijk (; born 16 December 1962) is a Dutch association football, football coach and former football player. Van Wijk was a left-back who began his career in the youth system of Ajax Amsterdam. He was unable to break into the first team and joined Norwich City F.C. in 1982. He spent four years at Carrow Road and was a member of the Norwich teams that won the EFL Cup, English League Cup in 1985 and the Second Division Championship in 1986. In that 1985 final, Van Wijk conceded a penalty kick when he handled in the area. Stéphane Auguste Ernest Demol (11 March 1966 – 22 June 2023) was a Belgian professional football player and manager who played as a central defender. Demol amassed Belgian First Division A totals of 120 games and 11 goals over the course of seven seasons, mainly with Anderlecht and Standard Liège with which he won eight major titles combined. ( French, ) or ( Dutch, ), often simply called Molenbeek, is one of the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region, Belgium. Arnauld Mercier (born 4 June 1972) is a French football manager and a former player. He spent most of his career playing in the French Ligue 2 and Championnat National, but had a spell in Italy where he played three seasons in Serie B. Boussu
Boussu (; ) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. As of January 1, 2006, Boussu had a population of 20,058. The total area is 20.01 km2, which gives a population density of 1,002 inhabitants per km2. The municipality consists of the following districts: Boussu and Hornu.
