The 2011 European Youth Olympic Festival, European Youth Summer Olympic Festival was held in Trabzon, Turkey, between 23 and 29 July 2011. Sports There were nine sports at the 2011 Festival, two branches, table tennis and water polo, less than compared with the 2007 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival, 2007 Youth Olympic Festival's programme. Trabzon
Trabzon, historically known as Trebizond, is a city on the Black Sea coast of northeastern Turkey and the capital of Trabzon Province. The city was founded in 756 BC as "Trapezous" by colonists from Miletus. Boys and girls born 1994 or 1995 or later participated 36 track and field events, divided evenly between the sexes. The five-day competition was preceded by the 2011 World Youth Championships in Athletics and a number of athletes participated at both meetings. Söğütlü Athletics Stadium () is a sports venue for athletics competitions in track and field located in Trabzon, Turkey. It was built 2007 at Söğütlü neighborhood of Akçaabat town in Trabzon Province as a stadium with movable seating to host the 1st Black Sea Games. Hayri Gür Arena (), ''Pelitli Arena'' is an indoor sporting arena and multi-purpose venue located in the suburban town of Pelitli, Trabzon Province, Turkey. Construction Built between 2009 and 2010 at a cost of 23 million (approx. $ 14 million), the venue was initially designed for a seating capacity of 5,000, however, it was later extended to hold 7,500 spectators.
