2010–11 South African Premiership
The 2010–11 South African Premiership, known as the ABSA Premiership for sponsorship purposes, and also commonly referred to as the PSL after the governing body, was the fifteenth season of the Premiership since its establishment in 1996. Supersport United were the defending champions, having won their third Premiership title the previous season. The campaign began on 27 August 2010 and ended on 21 May 2011. A total of 16 teams contested the league, 15 of which already contested in the 2009–10 season and one of which was promoted from the National First Division. Orlando Pirates secured the title with a 2–1 win against Golden Arrows on 21 May 2011. This was their third Premiership title. At the bottom, Mpumalanga Black Aces was relegated to the First Division while Vasco da Gama contested the relegation playoffs and failed to secure its premier league status. South African Premiership
The South African Premiership, also known as the Betway Premiership for sponsorship reasons, and commonly referred to as the PSL after its governing body, is a professional soccer league in South Africa and the highest level of the South African soccer league system. It has been organised since 1996. The 2024–25 season started on 14 September 2024, Mamelodi Sundowns successfully defended the title in 2025 which they've held continuously since the 2017–18 season. History The league was founded in 1996 after an agreement between the National Soccer League and the remnants of the National Professional Soccer League. It is stated on its website that the former name still exists today, but for legal purposes, with the ''Premier Soccer League'' being its trade name. The Moses Mabhida Stadium is a association football, soccer stadium in Durban in the KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa, named after Moses Mabhida, a former general secretary of the South African Communist Party. Cape Town Stadium
The Cape Town Stadium (; ; known until 2025 as the DHL Stadium for sponsorship reasons) is an association football (soccer) and rugby union stadium in Cape Town, South Africa, that was built as part of the country's hosting of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. During the planning stage, it was known as the Green Point Stadium, which was the name of the older stadium on an adjacent site, and this name was also used frequently during World Cup media coverage. Parow, Cape Town
Parow is the suburb of the City of Cape Town in the Western Cape, South Africa and a Northern Suburb of the City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality founded by Johann Heinrich Ferdinand Parow who arrived in the locality in 1865. History During a great storm in Table Bay in 1865, 19 ships were stranded. Amongst the many schooners was the ''Kehrwieder'', the ship of Captain Johann Heinrich Ferdinand Parow. After being stranded, Captain Parow settled down in the Cape of Good Hope and married Johanna Wilhelmina Timmerman, the daughter of the family that helped Captain Parow after being stranded on the Cape coast.
