Scottish Football League Second Division
The Scottish Football League Second Division was the third tier of the Scottish football league system between 1975 and 2013. History The Second Division was created in 1975, as part of a wider reconstruction of the Scottish Football League (SFL). Prior to 1975, the SFL had been split into two divisions (Division One and Division Two). The effect of the reconstruction was to split these two divisions into three, with the top flight named the Scottish Football League Premier Division, Premier Division, second tier the Scottish Football League First Division, First Division, and a new third tier was created known as the Second Division. A fourth tier, known as the Scottish Football League Third Division, Third Division, was created in 1994. The Scottish Football League Third Division was the fourth tier of the Scottish football league system between 1994 and 2013. History The Scottish football league system had operated with three divisions in the Scottish Football League (SFL) from 1975. In 1994, as part of reconstruction to allow the admission of Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Ross County to the league, the SFL was recalibrated to give four divisions of 10 teams. The fourth tier was named the Third Division. In 1998, the Premier Division (top flight) clubs broke away to form the Scottish Premier League (SPL). The Third Division continued as the fourth tier of the league system, but was now the third tier of the SFL. In 2013, the SFL and SPL merged to form the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL). Jon McShane (born 14 September 1991) is a Scottish professional football who most recently played for Stenhousemuir. He previously played for St Mirren, Dumbarton, Hamilton Academical, Celtic Nation, East Fife and Stranraer. He now resides in Australia and currently plays for Dandenong City SC. Career Born in Paisley, McShane began his career with St Mirren and came through the youth system from the age of 12. Bobby Linn
Robert Linn (born 10 October 1985) is a Scottish footballer who plays as a winger for Midlands League club Dundee North End. Linn started his career with Dundee before signing for Peterhead. He then moved to Greenock Morton, from whom he joined East Fife, initially on loan. After spending a year in the Juniors with Ballingry Rovers, Linn signed for Arbroath in June 2013, and would spend a decade with the club which would include a rise from 9th in the Scottish League Two to coming 2nd in the Scottish Championship. Rory McAllister (born 13 May 1987 in Aberdeen) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays for club Formartine United. Club career Inverness Caledonian Thistle After being released from Aberdeen's youth set-up (he never played for the first team, but did play for the reserves on a few occasions), McAllister was given a chance to resurrect his career at Inverness Caledonian Thistle. In three seasons he played in over 50 games, but scored just five goals. He made his league début for Inverness on 30 April 2005, as a second-half substitute against Kilmarnock. Iain Thomas Russell (born 14 November 1982) is a Scottish former professional footballer who played as a forward. Russell came through the youth teams at Annan Athletic and Rangers before making a few appearances for Motherwell. Mark Roberts (footballer Born 1975)
Mark Roberts (born 29 October 1975 in Irvine) is a Scottish football player and coach. Roberts' playing career was mainly based in Scottish football, with spells at Kilmarnock, Falkirk, Airdrieonians, Partick Thistle, St Mirren, Airdrie United and Ayr United. He also had a spell at Shelbourne in the Republic of Ireland. In 2012, Roberts was appointed player/manager of Ayr United, a position he held until his departure from the club in 2014. He then had a stint as head coach of Queen's Park. Playing career Roberts spent his youth career with Bellfield Boys Club in Kilmarnock during the 1991–92 season.
