The 2010–11 season was the 63rd season in the existence of FC Steaua București and the club's 63rd consecutive season in the top flight of Romanian football. George Becali
George "Gigi" Becali (; born 25 June 1958) is a Romanian businessman, writer, politician and former convict, mostly known for his ownership of the FCSB football club. Becali was a Member of the European Parliament between June 2009 and December 2012, and a Parliament of Romania, Member of the Romanian Parliament from December 2012 up until his conviction in May 2013. In 2024 Romanian parliamentary election, 2024, Becali was elected a member of the Chamber of Deputies (Romania), Chamber of Deputies for the AUR party, but left in March 2025 due to chairman George Simion's decision of collected signatures for a female presidential candidate. CS Gaz Metan Mediaș
Clubul Sportiv Gaz Metan Mediaș (), commonly known as Gaz Metan Mediaș or simply as Gaz Metan, was a Romanian professional football club based in Mediaș, Sibiu County. Founded in 1945 as ''Karres Mediaș'', the team spent most of its existence in the second division. It also participated in 16 seasons of the Liga I, the highest level of the Romanian league system, and lost a Cupa României final to CCA București in 1951. Gaz Metan registered its debut in European competitions in the 2011–12 campaign, when it defeated KuPS and Mainz 05 prior to being eliminated by Austria Wien in the UEFA Europa League play-off round. Florin Gardoș
Florin Gardoș (; born 29 October 1988) is a Romanian former professional footballer who played as a centre back. Early life Gardoș was born in the city of Satu Mare in Romania. Club career Gardoș started his senior career with Concordia Chiajna in 2006. In his first season at the club, he helped them achieve promotion to the second division. Pablo Brandán
Pablo Daniel Brandán (; born 5 March 1983) is an Argentine former footballer and manager. Career Brandán was born in Merlo. He won the 2008–09 Liga I edition with Unirea Urziceni, under the coaching of Dan Petrescu. In the same season he was selected the Liga I left back of the year. In September 2010 he signed a contract with Steaua București before follow teammates from Unirea Urziceni: Galamaz, Ricardo, Marinescu, Apostol and Bilașco who signed one week earlier. Valentin Iliev Ivanov (; born 11 August 1980) is a Bulgarian football manager and former professional player. Personal life Iliev's father, Iliya Valov, was goalkeeper for CSKA and Bulgaria's national team. Playing career Early career Iliev started his career in his home town Vratsa, where he played for the local team Botev Vratsa. Ifeanyi Emeghara
Ifeanyi Innocenti Emeghara (born 24 March 1984) is a Nigerian former professional footballer who played as a defender. He was deployed equally on the left and the right flank. Club career Partizan After failing to find a club in Italy, Emeghara arrived to Partizan for a trial in January 2003, accompanied by compatriot Oladipupo Martins. Răzvan Marian Stanca (born 18 January 1980) is a Romanian former professional footballer who serves as a goalkeeping coach for Romania national under-21 team. 2009–10 Liga I
The 2009–10 Liga I was the ninety-second season of Liga I, the top-level football league of Romania. Unirea Urziceni were the defending champions. Teams Farul Constanța, Otopeni and Gloria Buzău were relegated at the end of the 2008–09 season. They were joined by Argeș Pitești, who were demoted upon a decision of the Professional Football League on 8 July 2009, after their owner, Cornel Penescu, was found guilty of corruption. As a consequence, 15th-placed Gaz Metan Mediaș were spared relegation. The four relegated teams were replaced by the champions and runners-up from both 2008–09 Liga II divisions. Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț and Ploiești were promoted from Seria I while Unirea Alba Iulia and Internațional Curtea de Argeș were promoted from Seria II. 2009–10 UEFA Europa League
The 2009–10 UEFA Europa League was the first season of the UEFA Europa League, Europe's secondary club football tournament organised by UEFA. The competition was previously known as the UEFA Cup, which had been in existence for 38 years. Spain's Atlético Madrid won the tournament for the first time, beating Fulham – who were playing in their first European final – at the Volksparkstadion, home ground of Hamburger SV, in Hamburg, Germany. Fotbal Club FCSB (), formerly named and still sometimes referred to as FC Steaua București, is a Romanian professional Association football, football club based in Bucharest. It has spent its entire history in the Liga I, the top flight of the Romanian football league system.
