2010–11 EHF Champions League
The 2010–11 EHF Champions League was the 51st edition of Europe's premier club handball tournament and the eighteenth edition under the current EHF Champions League format. THW Kiel were the defending champions. The final four was played on 28–29 May 2011 at the Lanxess Arena at Cologne, Germany. FC Barcelona Borges defeated BM Ciudad Real in the final to win the title for the 8th time. Draw The draw for the group stage took place at the Liechtenstein Museum in Vienna on 22 June 2010. A total of 24 teams were drawn into four groups of six. Teams were divided into four pots, based on EHF coefficients. Clubs from the same pot or the same association cannot be drawn into the same group. Each team played against each other in its group twice. The top two in each group proceeded to the knockout stage, and the third-placed teams entered the EHF Cup's Winners Cup Round of 32. EHF Champions League
The EHF Champions League is the most important club handball competition for men's teams in Europe and involves the leading teams from the top European nations. The competition is organised every year by EHF. The official name for the men's competition is the EHF Champions League Men. The EHF coefficient rank decides which teams have access and in which stage they enter. Eligibility and qualifying Each year, the EHF publishes a ranking list of its member federations. The first 9 nations are automatically permitted to participate in the tournament with their national champion. The national federation ranked first place in the EHF European League, currently Germany, is awarded a second qualification berth for the domestic runner-up. Hockey Club Dinamo Minsk or HC Dinamo Minsk (; , ''Dynama-Minsk'') is a professional ice hockey club based in Minsk, Belarus. RK Metalurg Skopje () is a Macedonian handball club based in Skopje. They compete in the domestic Macedonian Handball First League, and have competed in the EHF Champions League. History The club was founded in 1971 under patronage of the Skopje steel industry. There, an idea was born to form a team composed of employees that worked in the nearby steel mill. Nikola Bogdanovski accepted the idea after it was reviewed by the board of directors. Thus, RK Metalurg was created. The same concept realized by Bogdanovski continues to live today. At the time, the club didn't even think of playing in any of the European competitions, because they played their best not to be relegated from the first league. Drammen Håndballklubb is a Norwegian handball team located in Drammen, Norway. They compete in REMA 1000-ligaen, which is the highest league for men's handball clubs in Norway. History The club was founded on March 3, 1992. The foundation was the result of a long going project where handball clubs in Drammen and Lier gathered to discuss how to build a "Top Team" candidate for the region. The project resulted in two clubs joining forces - Reistad IL from Lier and IF Sturla from Drammen. HT Tatran Prešov is a handball club from Prešov, Slovakia, that plays in the Niké Handball Extraliga and EHF European League. History The official establishment of the club begins in 1952 under the name Slavia CSSA.
