2010–11 British Basketball League Season
The 2010–11 BBL season was the 24th campaign of the British Basketball League since the league's establishment in 1987. This season saw the league reduced to 12 teams with the withdrawal of London Capital during the summer and was the first campaign ever to not feature a club from the capital city London. Unlike previous seasons the Trophy schedule usually played in January/February was brought forward, with the reintroduced group stage being played before the start of the regular season. The campaign tipped-off on 17 September 2010 with Plymouth Raiders beating Worthing Thunder 79–77 in the opening game of the Trophy. The regular league season commenced on 10 October, whilst the season closed with the showpiece Play-off Final on 30 April 2011 at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham. British Basketball League
The British Basketball League (BBL) was a men's professional basketball sports league, league in Great Britain. Since its establishment in 1987 the BBL represented the highest level of basketball competition within the United Kingdom. The organisation that operated the competition, Basketball League Limited, folded in July 2024 after the British Basketball Federation terminated its operating license. It was succeeded as the top-level men's basketball competition with Super League Basketball. The BBL operated as a Franchising, franchise model where each member team is located within a separate franchise area. Most recently (in 2023/24), the League featured 10 member franchises from England and Scotland who jointly own the organisation and a chairman was elected by the teams to oversee operations. BBL Player Of The Season
The British Basketball League Most Valuable Player award is an annual award of the United Kingdom's top professional basketball league, the British Basketball League. It is awarded to the league's top performing player throughout the duration of the season. The award is decided by a panel consisting of each of the League's team's head coaches, who submit one vote each at the end of the regular season, and the player with the most votes is presented with the award. Only on one occasion - the 2006–2007 season - has the award been shared between two players (Jeff Bonds and Brian Dux) due to a tie in the voting. Kelvin Hall International Sports Arena
The Kelvin Hall International Sports Arena was located within the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow, Scotland. Garon Park is a recreational park located within the city of Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England. The park is home to numerous sporting facilities including the Peter Butler Oval, a cricket ground used by Essex County Cricket Club, Southend Leisure & Tennis Centre and Garon Park Golf Complex. Milton Keynes Lions
London Lions are a British professional basketball team based in Stratford, East London, England, and compete in the Super League Basketball (SLB). The team was originally founded in 1977 as the Hemel Hempstead Lakers. Following an ownership take over by Vince Macaulay in 1993, the club subsequently relocated to Watford, and then Milton Keynes, where they were known as Milton Keynes Lions.
