2010 Ýokary Liga
2010 Ýokary Liga season was the 18th edition of the top tier professional Yokary Liga football annual competition in Turkmenistan administered by the Football Federation of Turkmenistan. It began on 2 April 2010 with the first round of games and ended in December. FC Balkan won the title. Teams As league size were expanded from nine to ten teams, no team had to face relegation after the conclusion of the 2009 season. FC Ahal as champions of the Turkmen second level of football were promoted. FC Bagtyýarlyk, Nebitçi Balkanabat and Turan Daşoguz were renamed FC Lebap, FC Balkan and FC Daşoguz, respectively. Turkmenistan League
Turkmenistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia bordered by Kazakhstan to the northwest, Uzbekistan to the north, east and northeast, Afghanistan to the southeast, Iran to the south and southwest and the Caspian Sea to the west. FC Ahal
Ahal Änew Football Club (), or simply Ahal FK, is a Turkmen professional football club based in the Änew, Ahal Province. Founded in 1989, the club played its first-ever top flight season in 1992. The club plays its home matches at the 20,000 seater Ashgabat Stadium. Ahal won the 2022 Ýokary Liga, becoming one of eight clubs to have won the Ýokary Liga since its inception in 1992. History During 1989–91, the club participated in the Soviet Second League. FC Ahal played in the top division of Turkmenistan in 1992, winning bronze medal, but the following year the team was disbanded. The returning season was 1998–99. In 2013, the team won Cup title, led by Ali Gurbani. In 2013 Turkmenistan Cup final team beat Altyn Asyr and won the trophy for the second time. Daşoguz
Daşoguz (also Dashoguz, Dasoguz; roughly "stone spring" in Turkmen), formerly known as Tashauz (until 1992; ) and Dashkhovuz (1992–1999; ), is a large city in northern Turkmenistan and the capital of Daşoguz Province. The Uzbekistan border is about 10 km away. Geography It is located at latitude 41.833° north, longitude 59.9667° east, at an average of 88 meters above sea level. It is about from Nukus, Uzbekistan, and from Ashgabat. In nearby Lake Sarykamysh 65 varieties of fish can be found. Balkanabat Stadium
The Balkanabat Sports Complex or Sport Toplumy Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Balkanabat, Turkmenistan. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as the home for Nebitçi FT. The stadium holds 10,000 people. It is located near the Balkanabat Health Trail, in close proximity to the ridge of the Uly Balkan. History The sports complex opened on 14 October 2009. Construction works carried out by Turkish company Özaylar Inşaat on request Ministry of Sports of Turkmenistan. The project cost $20 million. The sports complex includes a stadium for 10,000 spectators, sports facilities for volleyball, basketball, boxing, wrestling, mini-football, tennis. There is a fitness center with gym, swimming pool, a small hotel with 50 rooms. Parking areas for vehicles are arranged around the stadium. Balkanabat
Balkanabat (), formerly Nebit-Dag and Neftedag, is the administrative centre of Balkan Province, the largest province in Turkmenistan. It lies at the foot of the Balkan Daglary mountain range. Balkanabat is about 450 km west of Ashgabat and 160 km east of the seaport city of Türkmenbaşy. The city layout is a grid of apartment blocks called ''kvartal'' (quarters). The main streets are Magtymguly, Pervomayskiy and Gurbansoltan eje şaýoly. Etymology The town was founded in 1933 as Neftedag, meaning "Oil Mountain" (Russian ''neft'', "oil", and Turkmen ''dag'', "mountain"), as a settlement along one of the stations of the Trans-Caspian Railway. Ashgabat
Ashgabat (Turkmen language, Turkmen: ''Aşgabat'') is the capital city, capital and largest city of Turkmenistan. It lies between the Karakum Desert and the Kopet Dag, Kopetdag mountain range in Central Asia, approximately 50 km (30 mi) away from the Iran-Turkmenistan border. The city has a population of 1,030,063 (2022 census). The city was founded in 1881 on the basis of an Ahal Teke (Turkmen tribe), Teke tribal village, and made the capital of the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic in 1924 when it was known as Poltoratsk. FC Lebap
FK Lebap is a Turkmenistan football club based in Türkmenabat. Since 2015 they've played in the second division; the Birinji liga. Their home stadium is Türkmenabat Stadium which can hold 10,000 people. History The club has taken part in the championship of Turkmenistan since 1992. From 1996 the club added Eskavatorshik to their name. In the winter break of the 1997-1998 Championship, the club changed its name to Jeyhun. Since 2002, the club has been called Garagum. That year the team won the Cup of Turkmenistan, and among the leading players were Vitaly Alekperov, Zarif Ereshev, Yazguly Hodjageldiev, Berdy Nurmuradov, and Nikolay Yermilov (their goalkeeper, who saved two penalties in the shoot-out in the Cup final).
