Wilhelm Schauman (golfer)
Berndt Wilhelm Schauman (8 November 1857 – 14 November 1911) was a Finnish industrialist, the most important in Jakobstad at the beginning of the 20th century. He was the older brother of Ossian Schauman, and a member of the Schauman noble family. Wilhelm Schauman's first industrial installation was a small chicory (coffee additive/substitute) factory, which he founded in 1883. He was also involved in the local tobacco factory as part of the management. Apart from this, he continuously founded new enterprises such as a sugar refinery, a steam-powered saw mill and a plywood factory, which was the first of its kind in Finland. His enterprises soon expanded beyond the borders of Jakobstad. A paper and pulp mill was later built in Jakobstad, and remains today as the largest factory in Jakobstad. } Tapio Pulkkanen (born 21 May 1990) is a Finnish professional golfer, who plays on the European Tour. He won the 2015 Nordic Golf League and the 2017 Challenge Tour Order of Merit. He is noted for wearing a trilby hat. Early years Pulkkanen was born in Kotka, 130 kilometres east of Helsinki in southern Finland. Introduced to the game by his brother, he began playing golf at age 9 at Kymen Golf on the island of Mussalö outside Kotka. At 12 years old, he made his first hole-in-one. At 14 years of age, he quit soccer, to concentrate on golf. He has described that he had a group of boys to practice and compete with at his home club and at the same time, in contrast to a team sport, was responsible for his own game. David James Palm (born 7 July 1958) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Richmond in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1980s. Palm played at both Norwood and West Perth before joining Francis Bourke's Richmond in 1983. A tough and aggressive defender, he appeared in all possible 22 games in his debut season. Joakim Kevin Lagergren (born 15 November 1991) is a Swedish professional golfer who currently plays on the European Tour having previously played on the Challenge Tour. Professional career Lagergren turned professional in 2010 and initially played his golf on the Nordic mini-tours picking up his first win at the 2010 Landskrona Masters on the Nordic Golf League. The Swedish Match Play Championship is a golf tournament played since 1904, held for both men and women. It is the oldest and most traditional golf tournament in Sweden. The name SM is shortening in Swedish language for "Svenska Mästerskapet" (the Swedish Championship). History From the first tournament in 1904 (for men) and 1911 (for women) until 1983, it was an amateur tournament, from 1910 open only for Swedish citizens, and the winner was the official Swedish champion. Björn Oskar Ingemar Åkesson (born 4 January 1989) is a Swedish professional golfer that has played on the European Tour. He won the 2023 Nordic Golf League Order of Merit. Amateur career Åkesson had a successful youth career and played for the Swedish National Team. The Gevalia Open was a golf tournament held at Gävle Golf Club in Gävle, Sweden from 1978. It featured on the Swedish Golf Tour from its inception in 1984 and on the Challenge Tour in 1990 and 1991.
