2010 Aéro-Service C-212 Crash
On 19 June 2010, a CASA C-212 Aviocar transport aircraft crashed on a flight from Yaoundé, Cameroon, to Yangadou, Republic of the Congo, killing all eleven people on board. Among the victims were the entire board of Australian mining conglomerate Sundance Resources, including mining executive Ken Talbot. Accident On 19 June 2010, Cam Iron – Sundance's Cameroon subsidiary – chartered a CASA C-212 Aviocar from Aéro-Service to fly their board members from Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon, to the remote mining town of Yangadou, Republic of the Congo. The Aviocar was chartered because the company's private jet was too large to operate into the destination airfield. Eurocopter AS532 Cougar
The Eurocopter AS532 Cougar (now Airbus Helicopters H215M) is a twin-engine, medium-weight, multipurpose helicopter developed by Eurocopter. The AS532 is a development and upgrade of the Aérospatiale SA 330 Puma in its militarized form. Its civilian counterpart is the Eurocopter AS332 Super Puma (Later called the Airbus Helicopters H215, note the lack of M suffix). The AS532 has been further developed as the Eurocopter EC725. The CASA C-212 Aviocar is a turboprop-powered STOL medium cargo aircraft designed and built by Spanish aircraft manufacturer Construcciones Aeronáuticas SA (CASA).
