The VTB United League 2009–10 was the first complete season of the VTB United League, which is Eastern Europe's (and the Baltic region's) top-tier level competition for men's professional basketball clubs. 2008 VTB United League Promo-Cup
VTB United League Promo-Cup 2008 was the first test run tournament of the VTB United League. The tournament was held during the 2008–09 basketball season on 20–22 December 2008, at the CSKA Universal Sports Hall in Moscow. The tournament included 8 teams from Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine. CSKA Moscow won the tournament by defeating Khimki Moscow Region in the final. BC Žalgiris
Basketball Club Žalgiris () commonly known as BC Žalgiris, is a professional basketball club based in Kaunas, Lithuania. They compete domestically in the Lietuvos krepšinio lyga, Lithuanian Basketball League (''Lietuvos krepšinio lyga'') and internationally as a long-term licensed EuroLeague team. Since the 2011–12 season, Žalgiris has played its home games in Žalgiris Arena in the Centras Eldership, New Town district of Kaunas. Krešimir Lončar (born February 12, 1983) is a Croatian former professional basketball player, currently working as manager of sport & scouting for s.Oliver Würzburg of the Basketball Bundesliga. Standing at , he played both the power forward and center positions. Professional career In July 2008, Lončar signed a two-year contract with UNICS Kazan. Vladimir Veremeenko (born July 21, 1984) is a Belarusian former professional basketball player. Professional career The son of professional basketball players, Veremeenko was an early bloomer as he started his career with local side Gomel aged 15, playing in the 1999–00 Korać Cup before making the Belarusian league All-Star Game the next season. He moved to Russian club Avtodor Saratov in 2002, averaging 14.2 points and 7 rebounds per game during his second season in the Russian Super League. When club owner Vladimir Radionov moved the club to Saint Petersburg to form Dynamo, Veremeenko followed him. He would contribute 12.6 points and 5.5 rebounds per game to the club's 2005 FIBA Europe League title. Basketball Club Donetsk (), commonly known as simply Donetsk, was a Ukraine, Ukrainian professional basketball club, based in Donetsk. MBC Mariupol (, formerly BK Azovmash) was a Ukrainian professional basketball club. It was founded in 1990 in the city of Mariupol in South-Eastern Ukraine. The Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague (USL) () is the first-tier level of professional basketball league in Ukraine. Established in 1992, the league is currently contested by 10 clubs. It is a tier above the Ukrainian Higher League and allows for one team from the Higher League each season to be promoted. The league exists out of a regular season, in which team play for playoff-seeding, followed by playoffs to determine the Ukrainian champion.
