2009–10 New Jersey Devils Season
The 2009–10 New Jersey Devils season was the 36th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 11, 1974, and 28th season since the franchise relocated from Colorado prior to the 1982–83 NHL season. Off-season On June 9, 2009, Brent Sutter resigned as head coach of the Devils to become the head coach of the Calgary Flames. At the Entry Draft, the Devils traded with the Calgary Flames to move up in the draft and chose Jacob Josefson with the 20th overall pick. On July 13, 2009, the Devils named Jacques Lemaire as their new head coach. This was Lemaire's 2nd stint with the club. He won the Stanley Cup as head coach of the Devils back in 1995. Eastern Conference (NHL)
The Eastern Conference () is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Western Conference (NHL), Western Conference. History Originally named the Prince of Wales Conference (or Wales Conference for short), it was created in 1974–75 NHL season, 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The Prince of Wales Trophy dates back to 1925, when it was donated to the League by the Prince of Wales, who later became Edward VIII, King Edward VIII and then the Duke of Windsor. Jacob Josefson
Jacob Peter Josefson (born 2 March 1991) is a Swedish former professional ice hockey Centre (ice hockey), centre who last played for Djurgårdens IF Hockey, Djurgårdens IF of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL). After Josefson began playing hockey at the age of five, he was acquired by Djurgården's youth organization at the age of ten, where he also began playing junior hockey in 2005. Josefson made his Swedish Hockey League, Elitserien debut on 28 February 2008, against Timrå IK, and became a regular member of Djurgården's senior team. His achievements in the Swedish Elitserien drew attention from NHL and he was selected in the first round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils, 20th overall. Josefson played with Djurgården for an additional season, before signing with the Devils in May 2010 and played for them until 2017 when he left for the Buffalo Sabres.
