The 2009–10 NHL season, 2009–10 Columbus Blue Jackets season was the team's list of Columbus Blue Jackets seasons, tenth season of play in the National Hockey League (NHL). The Blue Jackets were unable to qualify for the playoffs, despite qualifying the previous year. Western Conference (NHL)
The Western Conference () is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. History Originally named the Clarence Campbell Conference (or Campbell Conference for short), it was created in 1974–75 NHL season, 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The conferences and divisions were re-aligned in 1981–82 NHL season, 1981 to better reflect the geographical locations of the teams, but the existing names were retained with the Campbell Conference becoming the conference for the NHL's westernmost teams. 2009–10 NHL Season
The 2009–10 NHL season was the 93rd season of operation (92nd season of play) of the National Hockey League (NHL). It ran from October 1, 2009—including four games in Europe on October 2 and 3—until April 11, 2010, with the 2010 Stanley Cup playoffs running to June 9, 2010. A mid-season break from February 15 to February 28 occurred to allow participation of NHL players in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Because of the Winter Olympics break, there was no NHL All-Star Game for 2010. The Stanley Cup Finals saw the Chicago Blackhawks defeat the Philadelphia Flyers in six games, for their first championship since the 1960–61 season. The New York Islanders (colloquially known as the Isles) are a professional ice hockey team based in Elmont, New York. Tomáš Káňa
Tomáš Káňa (born November 29, 1987) is a Czech professional ice hockey player currently playing for Milton Keynes Lightning in the National Ice Hockey League (NIHL). Playing career Káňa, a center, played two seasons in the Czech Extraliga with HC Vítkovice before being drafted 31st overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. On May 23, 2007, Káňa was signed to a three-year entry-level contract with the Blues. Káňa spent the majority of his contract with the Blues' second tier affiliate, the Alaska Aces of the ECHL. On December 8, 2009, Tomas was traded by St. Louis, along with Brendan Bell, to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Pascal Pelletier. Fedor Anatolievich Tyutin (, ''Fjodor Tjutin''; born 19 July 1983) is a Russian former professional ice hockey defenceman. Tyutin was drafted in the second round, 40th overall by the New York Rangers in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career After his first professional season in his native Russia, with SKA Saint Petersburg in the then Russian Superleague (RSL) in the 2000–01 season, Tyutin impressed as a rookie as was selected by the Rangers in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Michael Charles Blunden (born December 15, 1986) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey winger. Over his professional career, Blunden has appeared in over 100 National Hockey League (NHL) games with the Ottawa Senators, Tampa Bay Lightning, Montreal Canadiens, Columbus Blue Jackets and Chicago Blackhawks. Playing career Blunden was drafted 43rd overall in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks from the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League. Grant Clitsome (born April 14, 1985) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman who played for the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Winnipeg Jets of the National Hockey League (NHL) from 2008 to 2016. Playing career Clitsome was drafted in the ninth round, 271st overall, by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
