2009 Peruvian Segunda División
The 2009 Segunda División Peruana, Segunda División season was the 64th edition of the second tier of Peruvian Football Federation, Federación Peruana de Futbol. There were 12 teams in play played. The champion, Sport Boys, was promoted to the 2010 Torneo Descentralizado. The last places, Real Academia F.C., Real Academia and Club Centro Deportivo Municipal, Deportivo Municipal, were relegated to 2010 Copa Perú. Peruvian Segunda División
The Peruvian Second Division (; known simply as ''Second Division'', and Liga 2 Caja Cusco for sponsorship reasons), officially known as Liga 2, is the second-highest division in the Peruvian football league system. Founded in 1943, it is a professional and promotional division organized by the Peruvian Football Federation. Since 2025, it has been contested by 15 teams, with promotion to the Peruvian Primera División, Liga 1, and relegation to the Peruvian Tercera División, Liga 3. History The Peruvian Segunda División (1912–1925), Peruvian Segunda División was the second division of Peruvian football from 1912 to 1925. It allowed promotion to the Primera Division for the starting seasons and was not a professional tournament. Estadio Monumental "U"
The Estadio Monumental (''Monumental Stadium'') is a association football, football stadium in the district of Ate District, Ate in Lima, Peru. It is the home of Club Universitario de Deportes, and it was opened in 2000 to replace the Estadio Teodoro Lolo Fernandez. Its only legal owner is the club itself. Designed by Progreso International and Gremco S.A., Uruguayan architect Walter Lavalleja Sarriés led the construction of the stadium. At the time of its construction, it became Peru's largest stadium and also the List of South American stadiums by capacity, second largest in South America. The stadium was built in accordance with FIFA’s manual of technical specifications for FIFA World Cup, World Cup finals. Ate District
Ate, also known as Ate-Vitarte, is one of the forty-three districts that make up Lima Province, located in Peru. History The ''Ate'' name is of Aymaran origin and denoted a local Native town, while the ''Vitarte'' name is a Castilian Spanish derivation of the Basque family name ''Ubitarte'', which were the original Spanish landowners in the surrounding area. The district of Ate was founded by express law on August 4, 1821 by General Don José de San Martín, a few days after Peru's declaration of independence. Cobresol FBC was a Peruvian football club based in the city of Moquegua, Peru. Founded in 2008, the club gained promotion from the Segunda División Peruana after winning the 2010 championship, moving to the Torneo Descentralizado in 2011, before being relegated back to Segunda Division after a last-place finish in 2012. Club Deportivo Municipal
Club Centro Deportivo Municipal, commonly known as Deportivo Municipal, is a Peruvian football club based in Lima, Peru. They are among Peru's most recognizable clubs and enjoy considerable popularity. The bulk of their success came a few years after the club was founded in 1935. The club was a top-flight contender during this period and won four Primera División titles. The club suffered relegation three times in their history: 1967, 2000, and 2007.
