2009 Open GDF Suez
The 2009 Open GDF Suez was a women's professional tennis tournament played on indoor hardcourts. It was the 17th edition of the Open GDF Suez (formerly known as the ''Open Gaz de France'') and was a Premier tournament on the 2009 WTA Tour. It took place at Stade Pierre de Coubertin in Paris, France, from 9 February until 15 February 2009. The top three seeds were Serena Williams, the 2009 Australian Open singles champion and twice the winner of this event, Jelena Janković, a former World No. 1, and Elena Dementieva, the 2008 Olympic gold medalist in singles and a 2009 Australian Open semifinalist. Agnieszka Radwańska, home favourite Alizé Cornet, Patty Schnyder, Anabel Medina Garrigues, and two-time champion Amélie Mauresmo also played this event. WTA Premier Tournaments
WTA Premier tournaments was a category of tennis tournaments in the Women's Tennis Association, WTA Tour, implemented from the reorganization of the schedule in 2009 until 2020. In 2020, Premier events included: * Four "Premier Mandatory" events in Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, and Beijing with prize money of $4.5 million. * Five "Premier 5" events in Doha, Rome, Cincinnati, Toronto/Montreal, and Wuhan with prize money of $2 million. * Twelve "Premier" events with prize money of $600,000 to $1,000,000. The ranking points awarded to the winners of these tournaments are: * "Premier Mandatory" 1000 * "Premier 5" 900 and * "Premier" 470. Květa Peschke
Květoslava Peschke (, née Hrdličková; born 9 July 1975) is a Czech former professional tennis player who was ranked world No. 1 in doubles. She reached a career-high singles ranking of No. 26 in November 2005, winning one WTA singles title in Makarska in 1998, but achieved most of her success in doubles. Peschke claimed her first Grand Slam title at the 2011 Wimbledon Championships, partnering Katarina Srebotnik. The pair also jointly attained the world No. 1 ranking in doubles for the next ten weeks, and were the 2011 WTA Doubles Team of the Year, having previously reached the final at the 2010 French Open. Karolina Šprem Baghdatis (born 25 October 1984) is a former professional tennis player from Croatia. She won eleven titles (ten singles), all at the ITF level.
