The 2008 Tour de las Américas was the 17th season of the Tour de las Américas (formerly the South American Tour), the main professional golf tour in Latin America since it was formed in 1991. Rafael Gómez (golfer)
Rafael Faustino Gómez (born 27 December 1967) is an Argentine professional golfer. Career Gómez was born in Buenos Aires. He turned professional in 1990. He played on the European Challenge Tour in 2003 and from 2005 to 2007 and the European Tour from 2005 to 2007. He played on the U.S.-based Nationwide Tour in 2004 and a few events on the PGA Tour. His best finish on the PGA Tour was 38th place in The International (golf), The International in 2002. His best finish on the European Tour was 22nd place in the KLM Open in 2006. Gómez won the TPG Tour Order of Merit in 2007 and the Tour de las Americas Order of Merit in 2001/02 and 2004. He was second in Los Encinos Open in 2002, Mexican Open in 2006 and the Colombian Open in 2008. Gómez and Ángel Cabrera have the most tournament wins on the Tour de las Americas with eight victories. Club Colombia Masters
The Club Colombia Masters was a golf tournament co-sanctioned by the European Challenge Tour and the Tour de las Américas and was first played in 2007. The event was held at the Country Club de Bogotá, in Bogotá, Colombia. The tournament was organized by the Corporacion Internacional de Golf, managed by German Calle Jr. and Jorge Muñoz. This was the first golf tournament ever to be sanctioned by the European Challenge Tour in Colombia. In 2010 it was replaced on the schedule by the Copa Antioquia, held in Medellín. 2007 The first tournament was won by Edoardo Molinari from Italy. Molinari, the 2005 U.S. Amateur champion, had turned professional the year before and was trying to get onto a tour when he was invited to play in Bogotá. Molinari and Gustavo Mendoza, a local player, entered a sudden-death play-off which was settled on the second extra hole after their fourth round scores left them tied at the top of the leaderboard on five under par (269). The San Luis Open, or the Abierto de San Luis, is a golf tournament on the TPG Tour, the official professional golf tour in Argentina. Clodomiro Carranza
Clodomiro Carranza Mujica (born 26 April 1982) is an Argentinian professional golfer who has played predominantly on the European Tour, Web.com Tour, Tour de las Américas and various other worldwide tours. Professional career Carranza turned professional in 2002 and played much of his early career on the Argentine national professional golf tour. His first professional win came at the 2005 Acantilados Grand Prix on the PGA of Argentina Tour. In 2005 Carranza became a member of the Tour de las Américas and achieved his first win on the tour at the 2008 Carlos Franco Invitational. From 2005 to 2008 Carranza also played a limited number of events on the Challenge Tour before gaining playing rights for the European Tour for the 2010 and 2011 seasons. The Venezuela Open or Abierto de Venezuela is a men's professional golf tournament. It has only been staged intermittently since 1957, 2019 being the 35th edition of the event.
