2007–08 Toto Cup Al
The 2007–08 Toto Cup Al was the 24th season of the third most important Association football, football tournament in Israel since its introduction and the third edition involving Israeli Premier League, Premier League clubs only. The final, played at Ramat Gan Stadium on 19 December 2007, was won by Maccabi Haifa F.C., Maccabi Haifa, who had beaten Bnei Sakhnin F.C., Bnei Sakhnin 2–0 in the final. Format change The 12 2007–08 Israeli Premier League, Premier League clubs were divided to three groups, with four teams in each group, playing a double round-robin tournament. The top two teams and the two best third-place finishers from the three groups advanced to the quarter-finals. The Israel Toto Cup (, ''Gvia Ha'Toto'') is an association football tournament that features clubs in the two highest divisions in Israel: the Israeli Premier League Ligat ha'Al, Ligat Ha'Al; and the Israeli 2nd division Liga Leumit. Both of these leagues are featured separately for the Israel Toto Cup – at a distinct seasonal tournament for each of these two. They are simply referred to as ''Toto Cup Al'' and ''Toto Cup Leumit'', in many global media outlets. From 1999 to 2009, the tournament was also open to clubs from the Liga Artzit, third division, until the cancellation of Liga Artzit. Jhon Jairo Culma (born 17 March 1981), sometimes spelled as John Jairo Culma, is a Colombian former footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. Career Born in Florida, Valle del Cauca, Culma was raised in Ortigal, Cauca. He began playing youth football in the local Valle del Cauca league, and would train with the youth sides of América de Cali, Millonarios and Deportivo Cali. At age 17, Culma had a trial with Montpellier, but ultimately moved to Argentina where he signed with Independiente. Culma signed a long-term deal with Cruz Azul in 2001, where he would play primarily for its affiliate club, Cruz Azul Oaxaca. However, he was selected to participate in the parent club's 2003 Copa Libertadores matches. In 2005, Brujas manager Carlos Restrepo signed Culma to play for the Costa Rican Primera División club. Ramat Gan (, ) is a city in the Tel Aviv District of Israel, located east of the municipality of Tel Aviv, and is part of the Gush Dan, Gush Dan metropolitan area. It is home to a Diamond Exchange District (one of the world's major diamond exchanges), Sheba Medical Center (the largest hospital in Israel) and many high-tech industries.
