2007–08 Slovak Superliga
The 2007–08 Slovak Superliga (known as the Slovak Corgoň Liga for sponsorship reasons) was the 15th season of first-tier football league in Slovakia, since its establishment in 1993. It began on 14 July 2007 and ended on 31 May 2008. MŠK Žilina were the defending champions. Teams A total of 12 teams was contested in the league, including 12 sides from the 2006–07 Slovak Superliga, 2006–07 season and one promoted from the 1. Liga via play-off. Relegation for FK Inter Bratislava to the 2007–08 Slovak First League, 2007–08 1. Liga was confirmed on 30 May 2007. The one relegated team were replaced by FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce. The Slovak First Football League (), officially known as Niké liga for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Slovakia and the highest level of the Football in Slovakia, Slovak football league system. It was formed in 1993 following the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. The record for most titles is fifteen, held by ŠK Slovan Bratislava, Slovan Bratislava, who are the current title holders. History The current independent top football division in Slovakia was formed in 1993 as a result of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. The predecessors of the current top football division in Slovakia were Zväzové Majstrovstvá Slovenska (1925–1933) and Slovenská liga (1938–1944). Corgoň Liga 2007 Až 08
Corgoň () is a statue situated in Nitra, Slovakia. It was created by Vavrinec Dunajský in 1820. The sculpture is a famous landmark and symbol of Nitra. According to the local legend, the real person called Corgoň was a metalworker in Nitra. He was a mighty man of a stocky build, his arms were muscled in particular. Whenever he hit the anvil with a hammer, the whole upper town would quake. He influenced the history of his town when the Ottoman Turks besieged the Nitra Castle. The invaders were just about to climb the castle walls when Corgoň appeared straight from the forge. He started rolling down huge stones, which brought havoc among the Turks. However, what scared them off more than the stones was the gigantic and coal-black smoke-filmed face of Corgoň. Seeing him, they set off for an immediate run. He was believed to be seen extracting those huge stones from a slope assisted by evil spirits. That was how Nitra's upper town managed to survive the first Ottoman attack. The st ... FC VSS Košice, formerly 1. FC Košice, was a Slovakia, Slovak Football team, football club based in Košice which played in the 2. Liga (Slovakia), Slovak 2. Liga during the 2016–17 season. Štadión Pod Zoborom
Štadión pod Zoborom is a multi-use stadium in Nitra, Slovakia. It is used mostly for football (soccer), football matches and is the home ground of FC Nitra. The capacity is 7.480. Since 2023, it also serves as the home ground for American football team . Reconstruction In 2018, the stadium was renovated at an estimated cost of €7.9 million. Zlaté Moravce
Zlaté Moravce (; 1776 Morawce, , ) is a town in south-western Slovakia. Basic data It is the capital and the biggest town of Zlaté Moravce District. It is approximately 120 km from the Slovak capital Bratislava and 32 km from Nitra. History The town is situated on the banks of the river Žitava, in the northern part of the Podunajská Heights. Nowadays, it also includes the area of formerly separate boroughs Chyzerovce and Prílepy.
