The Maltese Third Division 2007–08 (known as BOV 3rd Division due to sponsorship reasons) was the 8th season and started on 21 September 2007 and finished on 18 May.For the first time the Division was divided into two sections:A and B.Section A consisted of 10 teams and Section B of 9.The winners of Section A were Zebbug Rangers and those of Section B were Gozo FC.Both were promoted to the 2008–09 Maltese Second Division, 2nd Division.The overall champions were Gozo FC who beat Zebbug Rangers, Zebbug 3-1.The match was abandoned on 57 minutes. The teams who finished 2nd and 3rd in each Section were to play in a promotion/relegation playoff with the 10th finishing place team of 2007–08 Maltese Second Division, Second Division.These were Attard F.C., Attard, Xghajra Tornadoes F.C., Xghajra from Section A and Gzira United, Gzira and Gharghur F.C., Gharghur from Section B.The 10th finishing team from 2007–08 Maltese Second Division, Second Division were Mgarr United F.C., Mgarr. ...

Maltese Third Division
The Maltese Third Division (also known as the BOV Third Division due to sponsorship reasons) was the lowest league level in Maltese football until 2020 when it was merged with the Maltese Second Division to create the National Amateur League. History The league was founded in 2000. Until 2011 the division comprised two sections - Section A with eleven teams and Section B with eleven teams. Both sections play two rounds with the winner in each group getting promoted to the Maltese Second Division. Relegation play-offs between the 2nd and 3rd placed teams of both groups and the 10th-place finisher of Second Division determined the third team to be in the Second Division. Because it is the lowest level in the Maltese Football League, there is no formal relegation from the league. However, the two lowest placed teams have to reapply to take part the following season.
