The 2007–08 season was the 106th season of competitive football in Italy. Football (soccer)
Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players who primarily use their feet to propel the ball around a rectangular field called a pitch. The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposition by moving the ball beyond the goal line into a rectangular framed goal defended by the opposing side. Traditionally, the game has been played over two 45 minute halves, for a total match time of 90 minutes. With an estimated 250 million players active in over 200 countries, it is considered the world's most popular sport. Roberto Donadoni
Roberto Donadoni (; born 9 September 1963) is an Italian football manager and former midfielder. Donadoni was capable of playing on either flank, or in the centre. He began his career with Atalanta, and he later became a pillar of the powerhouse AC Milan team of the late 1980s and early 1990s, achieving domestic and international success during his time with the club. In his later career, he was also one of the pioneers of Major League Soccer, where he played two seasons for the NY/NJ MetroStars, before ending his career with Saudi Premier League side Ittihad in 2000. At international level, Donadoni was also an important member of the Italy national team throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s. He represented his country at the 1988 and 1996 European Championships, and at the 1990 and 1994 FIFA World Cups. Francesco Guidolin (; born 3 October 1955) is an Italian association football, football manager and former player, most recently the manager of Premier League team Swansea City A.F.C., Swansea City. Stefano Colantuono (born 23 October 1962) is an Italian association football, football professional football manager and former player, who played as a Defender (association football), defender, currently in charge as youth system chief of U.S. Salernitana 1919, Salernitana. Nedo Sonetti
Nedo Sonetti (born 25 February 1941) is an Italian football manager and former player, who played as a defender. Biography Sonetti was born in Piombino, southern Tuscany and lives now in Gorle. Playing career As a defender, Sonetti played in Serie B and Serie C for Spezia Calcio 1906 and Reggina. Managing career As a manager, Sonetti has had a long career at the helm of several Serie A and Serie B teams in the whole country. Among the several teams he led, he had his major successes with Atalanta B.C., which he led from Serie B to a ninth place in Serie A, coaching the team for four seasons. He is often considered a "replacement" coach, as he was often appointed in his career to replace fired managers from Serie A teams fighting to avoid relegation, or Serie B teams which managed to promote. Cagliari Calcio, commonly referred to as Cagliari (), is an Italian football club based in Cagliari, Sardinia. In the 2022-23 season, they compete in Serie B. Marco Giampaolo
Marco Giampaolo (; born 2 August 1967) is an Italian manager, and former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He was most recently the head coach of Serie A club Sampdoria. Playing career Although born in Bellinzona, Switzerland, Giampaolo grew up in Giulianova, from where his family originates. He has a brother, Federico Giampaolo, who is a former striker. During his playing career, he was a midfielder who played for several Serie C teams, including Giulianova Calcio, Gubbio, Licata and Siracusa, before making his Serie B debut for Fidelis Andria in 1995. Mario Beretta
Mario Beretta (born 30 October 1959 in Milan) is an Italian association football manager and former football player. He most recently served as head coach of Serie B club Latina. Career Playing career Beretta had a short career as footballer, playing only in the season 1976-77 for Pro Sesto and in that 1978-79 for ''Rovellasca'' in Serie D. Coaching career In 1982, aged 23, he became a coach for amateur team ''Abbiategrassos youth squad, and 1984 for Monza's. Andrea Mandorlini
Andrea Mandorlini (born 17 July 1960) is an Italian football manager and former defender, currently in charge of club Mantova. Playing career Mandorlini made his playing debut on 4 February 1979 with Torino. He left Torino in 1980 to join then-Serie B team Atalanta. After three seasons with Ascoli from 1981 to 1984, he signed for Inter, where he played until 1991. With the ''nerazzurri'' jersey, he won a Serie A championship (''scudetto'') in 1989 and a UEFA Cup in 1991. After two seasons with Udinese from 1991 to 1993, he announced his retirement from playing football. Renzo Ulivieri
Renzo Ulivieri (born 2 February 1941) is an Italian association football manager. He is the current chairman of the ''Associazione Italiana Allenatori Calcio'' (Italian Football Managers' Association). Career After a very short playing career as a midfielder for the Fiorentina youth team and Serie C team Cuoiopelli, Ulivieri became coach for Cuoiopelli in 1966, after the team were relegated to Serie D. He then coached several other amateur teams in Tuscany, such as San Miniato, Fucecchio, and the Prato youth squad. In 1972, he joined Serie C side Empoli, where he served as head coach for three seasons. He then spent two years as Fiorentina youth coach before Ulivieri signing for Ternana of Serie B in 1978. Reggina Calcio
Reggina 1914 S.r.l., commonly referred to as Reggina, is an Italian football club based in Reggio Calabria. Founded in 1914, they currently play in Serie B, and play their home matches at the 27,763 seater Stadio Oreste Granillo. They are nicknamed the ''amaranto'' (amaranth) after their official dark red colours. The club was formerly known as Reggina Calcio before declaring bankruptcy in 2015, as well as A.S.D. Massimo Ficcadenti
Massimo Ficcadenti (born 6 November 1967 in Fermo) is an Italian football manager and former midfielder. Career Playing Ficcadenti started his playing career with Sambenedettese, where he played from 1985 to 1989. He then signed for Messina, playing for the Sicilian side for a total of three seasons before to join Verona in 1992. At Verona, he also had the opportunity to make his Serie A debut; he stayed with the ''gialloblu'' for a total of five seasons before moving at Torino in 1997. He left Torino for Ravenna in 2000, and retired from active football one year later to become a coach. Coaching Ficcadenti's first coaching experience came in 2001 as boss of Serie C2 team Fiorenzuola.
