2007–08 FIS Cross-Country World Cup Finals
The 2007–08 FIS Cross-Country World Cup Finals were the 1st edition of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup Finals, an annual cross-country skiing mini-tour event. The three-day event was held in Bormio, Italy. It began on 14 March 2008 and concluded on 16 March 2008. It was the final competition round of the 2007–08 FIS Cross-Country World Cup. Pietro Piller Cottrer of Italy and Claudia Nystad of Germany won the first stage of the mini-tour; a prologue freestyle. The second stage, a mass start in classic technique, did not count as an ordinary World Cup race as no World Cup points were awarded on the stage. However, the stage counted in the World Cup Final overall standings and was won by Vincent Vittoz in the men's competition and by Virpi Kuitunen among the women. Vittoz and Kuitunen both lead the overall standings after two stages and both won the World Cup Final overall by defending their positions on the third stage. Bormio
Bormio ( lmo, Bormi, rm, italic=yes, , german: Worms im Veltlintal) is a town and ''comune'' with a population of about 4,100 located in the Province of Sondrio, Lombardy region of the Alps in northern Italy. The centre of the upper Valtellina valley, it is a popular winter sports resort. It was the site of the Alpine World Ski Championships in 1985 and 2005, and annually hosts the Alpine Ski World Cup. Tobias Angerer (born 12 April 1977 in Traunstein, Bavaria) is a German cross-country skier, and skis with the SC Vachendorf club. He graduated from the Skigymnasium Berchtesgaden in 1996. His occupation is "Sports Soldier". Angerer has been competing since 1996. Biography Angerer turned 18 in 1995 in his first big event, the 10 km classical at the FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Asiago, Italy. The next year he took a 26th place on the 30 km freestyle and a 28th place on the 10 km classical at the World Junior Championships in Canmore, Canada. His first victory in the FIS World Cup came on 6 January 2004 in Falun, Sweden, when he won the 2 × 15 km double pursuit in front of Italy's Pietro Piller Cottrer. Christian Hoffmann
Christian Hoffmann (born 22 December 1974 in Aigen im Mühlkreis) is an Austrian former cross-country skier who began competing in 1994. He won the bronze medal in the 50 km at the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. Four years later at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Hoffmann finished second in the 30 km freestyle mass start event to Spain's Johann Mühlegg, but was awarded the gold medal in 2004 upon Mühlegg's blood-doping disqualification of darbepoetin. Hoffmann's best individual finish at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships was fifth in the 50 km in 2001. Matti Heikkinen (born 19 December 1983 in Kajaani) is a Finnish former cross-country skier and World Champion who competed from 2002 to 2019. Career Heikkinen won his first World Championship at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 in Holmenkollen 2011. Winning 15 km, he is the first Finnish men's World Champion for over a decade. He also won two bronze medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2009 in Liberec, earning them in the 15 km and 4 × 10 km relay events. In December 2009, Heikkinen took his first World Cup victory on the 15 km freestyle event in Davos. Heikkinen finished fifth in the 4 × 10 km relay at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada.
