2007–08 AS Roma Season
During the 2007–08 season Associazione Sportiva Roma played the 75th Serie A season in its history. As in the previous season, Roma finished in second place in Serie A behind Internazionale, but had the chance to win the Championship until the last match. Further, because ''giallorossi'' won the 2006–07 Coppa Italia, they played the Supercoppa Italiana for the second consecutive time against Inter, and won the trophy thanks to a 1–0 victory in the first match of the season in San Siro. In the European competitions, Roma played 2007–08 UEFA Champions League and, starting from the group stage, beat Real Madrid in the Round of 16, but lost to the eventual champions Manchester United in the quarter-finals. The last match of the season was the 2007–08 Coppa Italia final against Internazionale, the fourth consecutive final between the two teams. Associazione Sportiva Roma (''Rome Sport Association''; Italian pronunciation: Help:IPA/Italian, ) is a professional Association football, football club based in Rome, Italy. 2008–09 AS Roma Season
The 2008–09 season was Associazione Sportiva Roma's 76th season in Serie A. The club competed in four competitions; domestically, Roma finished a disappointing 6th, after three consecutive second-place finishes. They began the season by losing the Supercoppa Italiana to Inter, who also eliminated Roma in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia. Having finished 2nd the previous season, Roma qualified automatically to the group stage of the 2008–09 UEFA Champions League. Roma managed to finish top of their group, but were eliminated in the round of 16 by English club Arsenal in a penalty shoot-out. Ludovic Vincent Giuly (born 10 July 1976) is a French former professional Association football, footballer who played as a Midfielder#Winger, winger. Giuly represented France national football team, France at international level, gaining 17 Cap (sport), caps over a five-year period and was a member of their 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup-winning squad. Marco Giancarlo Andreolli (born 10 June 1986) is an Italian retired professional footballer who played as a centre-back. Club career Padova and Inter Milan Andreolli began playing with Padova's youth system before being signed by Inter in 2003. He made his Serie A debut against Reggina in May 2005, aged 18, and made two more appearances in the 2005–06 Serie A. The Stadio Flaminio is a stadium in Rome. It lies along the Via Flaminia, three kilometres northwest of the city centre, 300 metres away from the Parco di Villa Glori. Juan Silveira dos Santos (; born 1 February 1979), commonly known as Juan, is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a centre-back. 2007 Copa América
The 2007 Campeonato Sudamericano Copa América, known simply as the 2007 Copa América or 2007 Copa América Venezuela, was the 42nd edition of the Copa América, the South-American championship for international association football teams. The competition was organized by CONMEBOL, South America's football governing body, and was held between 26 June and 15 July in Venezuela, which hosted the tournament for the first time. Philippe Mexès (born 30 March 1982) is a French former professional Association football, footballer who played as a centre-back. He represented AJ Auxerre, Auxerre, AS Roma, Roma and AC Milan at club level during a career that spanned between 1999 and 2016. Cristian Chivu
Cristian Eugen Chivu (; born 26 October 1980) is a Romanian professional football coach and former player who is the current head coach of Serie A club Inter Milan. A defender, he began his career with hometown club CSM Reșița before moving to Universitatea Craiova in 1998, leaving Romania to join Dutch club Ajax a season later. His performances as the captain of Ajax inspired an €18 million transfer to Roma in 2003.
