The Royal World Weightlifting Championships 2007 were held at the 700th Anniversary Sports Complex in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The event took place from September 17 to September 26, 2007. Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai, sometimes written as Chiengmai or Chiangmai, is the largest city in northern Thailand, the capital of Chiang Mai province and the List of municipalities in Thailand#Largest cities by urban population, second largest city in Thailand. Kim Chol-jin (; born October 31, 1978) is a North Korean weightlifter and Merited Athlete. Kim represented North Korea at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where he competed for the men's lightweight category (69 kg). Kim placed sixth in this event, as he successfully lifted 146 kg in the single-motion snatch, and hoisted 180 kg in the two-part, shoulder-to-overhead clean and jerk, for a total of 326 kg. Vadzim Mikalayevich Straltsou (; Łacinka: Vadzim Mikałajevič Stralcoŭ; born 30 April 1986) is a Belarusian weightlifter. Competing in men's 94 kg, he is the 2015 World champion and 2016 Olympic silver medalist. Career In 2006, Straltsou dominated the 85 kg class by winning the gold medal at the Junior World Weightlifting Championships in Hangzhou, China. He took bronze at the 2007 World Championships in Chiang Mai. Straltsou represented Belarus at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, competing in the men's light heavyweight category along with his compatriot Andrei Rybakou, who eventually won the silver medal. Georgi Markov (, born 12 March 1978 in Burgas) is a retired male weightlifter from Bulgaria. He won the silver medal in the men's lightweight division (– 69 kg) at the 2000 Summer Olympics, behind compatriot Galabin Boevski. He set one world record in the lightweight snatch in 2000. Aslambek Ediev (born 4 January 1970) is a former Russian weightlifter, who competed in the 76 kg division from 1993 to 1998 until the International Weightlifting Federation changed the body weight categories, and then 85 kg after 1998. Andrei Rybakou () (born March 4, 1982) is a Belarusian former Olympic weightlifting, weightlifter, Olympian and two-time World Champion who competed in the 85 kg category. In 2016, after a retest of his 2008 samples tested positive for Dehydrochloromethyl-testosterone and Stanozolol his performance at the 2008 Olympic Games was disqualified, as well as his Olympic record and World record set during the competition. He was also ordered to return his silver medal. Ivan Stoitsov (Иван Стоицов, born in Plovdiv) is a Bulgarian male weightlifter, competing in the 77 kg category and representing Bulgaria at international competitions.
