The 2006–07 season was the 112th full season in Sunderland A.F.C.'s history and their 106th in the English football league system, league system of English football. After recording a record low total of 15 points in the 2005–06 season, Sunderland finished bottom of the league and were relegated to the Football League Championship. Sunderland () is a port city and metropolitan borough in Tyne and Wear, England. It is a port at the mouth of the River Wear on the North Sea, approximately south-east of Newcastle upon Tyne. It is the most populous settlement in the Wearside conurbation and the second most populous settlement in North East England after Newcastle. Nyron Paul Henry Nosworthy (born 11 October 1980) is a former professional association football, footballer who played as a centre back. After beginning his career with Gillingham F.C., Gillingham, he moved to Sunderland A.F.C., Sunderland in 2005 with whom he played in the Premier League. After two lengthy loan spells with Sheffield United F.C., Sheffield United he made a permanent switch to Watford F.C., Watford in 2012 but was released in the summer of 2014 after a loan to Bristol City F.C., Bristol City. Kevin Ball
Kevin Ball (born 12 November 1964) is an English former professional footballer who played for Portsmouth, Sunderland, Fulham and Burnley. Since his retirement, he has held a number of positions at Sunderland, including twice being caretaker manager, and was most recently a club ambassador. Playing career Born in Hastings, Ball began his career in central defence but eventually moved into central midfield. He played 389 games for Sunderland in all competitions, scoring 27 goals. His career took off with a spell at Portsmouth and, after leaving Sunderland, he had spells at Fulham and Burnley. Julio Andrés Arca (born 31 January 1981) is an Argentine former professional Association football, footballer, who played as a Wingback (association football), left-back or central midfielder. He was most recently manager of South Shields F.C., South Shields. Andy Gray (footballer, Born 1977)
Andrew David Gray (born 15 November 1977) is a former professional footballer. Andy Gray started his career as a midfield player but later moved into a forward position. Gray began his career with Leeds United and he later played for Nottingham Forest, Charlton Athletic, Bury, Preston North End, Oldham Athletic, Barnsley, Bradford City, Sheffield United, Sunderland and Burnley. Joe Murphy (footballer, Born 1981)
Joseph Murphy (born 21 August 1981) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for club Tranmere Rovers. Murphy began his career with Tranmere Rovers, and has since represented eight other clubs, making over 500 appearances in the Football League and playing twice in the Premier League for West Bromwich Albion in 2002. Alan Stubbs
Alan Stubbs (born 6 October 1971) is an English football manager and former professional footballer. As a player he was a centre-back who played top flight football for every club he played for. He played in the Premier League with Bolton Wanderers, Everton, Sunderland and Derby County as well as a five-year spell in the Scottish Premiership with Celtic. He was capped once at England B level. Following retirement in 2008 through a knee injury, Stubbs then worked as a coach for Everton, and started his management career with Hibernian in 2014. Martin Woods
Martin Paul Woods (born 1 January 1986) is a Scottish footballer and coach who plays as a midfielder. Woods career started at Leeds United and during his time there had a spell on loan at Hartlepool United. He then moved on to Sunderland, Rotherham United and Doncaster Rovers, and also spent time on loan at Yeovil Town. Following a short spell at Barnsley, Woods signed for Ross County in October 2014.
