The 2006–07 season was the 127th season of competitive football by Rangers. Overview Rangers played a total of 51 competitive matches during the 2006–07 season. After signs that supporter unrest was turning on Murray, on 9 February 2006, two days before the crucial Old Firm match, it was announced that Alex McLeish would leave his position as manager at the end of the 2005–06 season, and on 11 March, it was confirmed that former Lyon manager Paul Le Guen would indeed succeed him at the end of the season. Makhtar N'Diaye
Amadou Makhtar N'Diayé (born 31 December 1981) is a Senegalese former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He made fourteen appearances for his country at international level in 2002, notably participating in the 2002 FIFA World Cup. Career N'Diayé was initially on trial at Scottish Premier League club Rangers, managed by his former Rennes boss Paul Le Guen, throughout the summer of 2006, and joined them on their tour of South Africa, before being signed to a one-year contract after impressing. Ronald Waterreus
Ronald Katarina Martinus Waterreus (; born 25 August 1970) is a Dutch former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He notably played for PSV Eindhoven and Rangers, before ending his career at New York Red Bulls in the Major League Soccer. Club career Born in Lemiers, Limburg, Waterreus started his career in 1992, playing for Roda JC. After joining PSV Eindhoven in 1994 he quickly established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Eredivisie, eventually being selected for the Dutch national squad. After ten seasons as PSV's number one goalkeeper, Waterreus was transferred to Manchester City for one season. Lionel Letizi
Lionel Letizi (born 28 May 1973 in Nice, Alpes‑Maritimes) is a former French professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He began his senior career at OGC Nice, winning the Ligue 2 title in 1994, before moving to FC Metz in 1996, where he helped the team reach the 1999 Coupe de la Ligue final. In 2000, he signed for Paris Saint‑Germain, making over 140 Ligue 1 appearances and winning the UEFA Intertoto Cup (2001) as well as two Coupe de France titles (2004, 2006). Jérémy Clément (born 26 August 1984) is a French professional football manager and former player. Playing as a midfielder, he spent most of his career with two clubs, Paris Saint-Germain and Saint-Étienne. Karl Wilhelm Svensson (; born 21 March 1984) is a Swedish former professional footballer who played as a centre-back for Jönköpings Södra, IFK Göteborg, Rangers, and Caen. He won one cap for the Sweden national team and represented his country at the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Libor Sionko (born 1 February 1977) is a Czech former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. At club level he started in his home town of Ostrava, playing for the youth teams of TJ Vítkovice and Baník Ostrava. Professionally, he played in his native country until 2004, featuring for clubs including Ostrava and Sparta Prague. He then went abroad, playing in Austria for Grazer AK and Austria Wien before heading to Scotland where he played for Rangers. He subsequently had a spell in Denmark with F.C. William Stanger (born 19 September 1985) is a French former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Career Stanger joined Rangers in May 2006.
