2006–07 New Zealand Football Championship
The 2006–07 New Zealand Football Championship was the third season of the New Zealand Football Championship and began on 14 October 2006, and finished on 16 April 2007. Auckland City FC won the title, following up their wins in 2004/2005 and 2005/2006. Format Revert In the regular season, all teams played each other three times. The playoff stage was changed slightly (reverting to the old format used during the 2004 season), with the top three teams now going through to the playoffs (as opposed to the previous season's five). New Zealand Football Championship
The New Zealand Football Championship () was a men's association football league at the top of the New Zealand league system. Founded in 2004, the New Zealand Football Championship was the successor to a myriad of short-lived football leagues in the country, including the National Soccer League, the National Summer Soccer League and the New Zealand Superclub League. The league was contested by ten teams in a franchise system. For sponsorship reasons, the competition was known as the ISPS Handa Men's Premiership. From the 2021 season, it was replaced by the New Zealand National League. The seasons used to run from October through to April, and consist of an eighteen-round regular season followed by a playoff series involving the four highest-placed teams, culminating in a Grand Final. Waikato FC
WaiBOP United (known as Waikato FC until 2013) was a football club based in Hamilton, New Zealand. The club was founded in 2004 and disbanded in 2016 and played in the ASB Premiership. WaiBOP United played their home fixtures at John Kerkhof Park, Cambridge. The club's social media accounts are now inactive. The club was the regional representative for Waikato-Bay of Plenty Football, and also played home fixtures in Rotorua and Mount Maunganui, both in the Bay of Plenty region. Newtown Park
Newtown Park is a multi-purpose stadium in Wellington, New Zealand, owned and managed by Wellington City Council. It is used for football (soccer) matches in winter, and track and field athletics in summer. Newtown Park is the primary athletics stadium for the Wellington region.
