2006–07 Middlesbrough F.C. Season
During the 2006–07 season, Middlesbrough participated in the Premier League. Team kit and sponsors Middlesbrough's kits were once again produced by Errea, and sponsored by 888.com for the third season running. The club retained the white band of the previous two seasons. Search for a new manager On 4 May 2006, Steve McClaren was chosen to take over as the manager of the England national team after the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Managers linked to take over as new Boro boss included Terry Venables, Martin O'Neill, Tony Mowbray and Alan Curbishley, with Steve Gibson expecting whoever took over to achieve a Champions League place in the near future. Terry Venables
Terence Frederick Venables (6 January 1943 – 25 November 2023), often referred to as El Tel, was an English football player and manager who played for clubs including Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers and won two caps for England. As a manager, Venables won the Second Division championship with Crystal Palace in 1979. He reached the 1982 FA Cup Final with Queens Park Rangers and won the Second Division in 1983. With Barcelona, he won La Liga in 1985 and reached the 1986 European Cup Final. He guided Tottenham Hotspur to victory in the 1991 FA Cup Final. He also managed Middlesbrough and Leeds United. Julio Andrés Arca (born 31 January 1981) is an Argentine former professional Association football, footballer, who played as a Wingback (association football), left-back or central midfielder. Franck Roger Queudrue (born 27 August 1978) is a French former professional footballer who played as a left back. He began his career with Lens, for whom he played in Ligue 1, and went on to play in the Premier League for Middlesbrough, Fulham and Birmingham City, and in the Football League for Colchester United. Dorival Guidoni Júnior (born 28 May 1972), known simply as Doriva, is a Brazilian football coach and retired footballer who played as a central midfielder. Jerrel Floyd "Jimmy" Hasselbaink ( ; born 27 March 1972) is a Dutch professional football manager and former player.
