2006–07 Glasgow Warriors Season
The 2006–07 season saw Glasgow Warriors compete in the Celtic League and the European Challenge Cup. Season overview After impressive preseason displays, Glasgow Warriors played its first game in the new Pro14, Celtic League against Dragons (rugby union), Newport Gwent Dragons, losing 23–24 after a last minute penalty. Glasgow then did not lose another home game until Ulster Rugby, Ulster came to Hughenden in January 2007. Glasgow drew away to English side Saracens F.C., Saracens in the European Challenge Cup, en route to a quarter-final berth, but was drawn against Saracens F.C., Saracens and lost 23–19 at Vicarage Road. The Warriors defeated both Scottish rivals, Edinburgh Rugby, Edinburgh and Border Reivers (rugby), Border Reivers, just a week apart, and at the start of April title hopefuls Leinster Rugby, Leinster arrived at Hughenden. Glasgow Warriors
The Glasgow Warriors are a professional rugby union side from Scotland. The team plays in the United Rugby Championship league and in the European Professional Club Rugby tournaments. In the 2014–15 season they won the Pro12 title and became the first Scottish team to win a major trophy in rugby union's professional era. In 2023-24 they became the first Scottish side to win the United Rugby Championship in its current form. The side is known for its fast, dynamic and attacking style of play, using offloads and quick rucks. Defensively the club prides itself on its 'Fortress Scotstoun' where the club play at home. Border Reivers (rugby)
Border Reivers, originally known as "Scottish Borders Rugby", and also known as ''The Borders'', were one of four professional rugby union teams in rugby union in Scotland, Scotland, alongside Edinburgh Rugby, Edinburgh, Caledonia Reds and Glasgow Warriors. Border Reivers were active in the Scottish Inter-District Championship from 1996 to 1998 and in the Pro14, Celtic League, Celtic Cup and Heineken Cup from 2002 until 2007, when, as part of the Scottish Rugby Union, Scottish Rugby Union's cost-cutting measures, they were disbanded. Ben Prescott (born 31 July 1978 in Tripoli, Libya) is a Libyan born Scottish former rugby union player for Glasgow Warriors at the Tighthead Prop position. Amateur career Prescott played for Aberdeen GSFP. He also played for Blackrock College RFC when based in Ireland with Leinster in 2010. Professional career Prescott started playing for Glasgow Warriors in the 2001–02 season under Richie Dixon. Euan Murray
Euan Murray (born 7 August 1980) is a retired Scottish rugby union footballer, whose last club was Pau in the French Top 14. He started his career with Glasgow Warriors before playing for a number of clubs, including Northampton Saints, Newcastle Falcons and Worcester Warriors. He also played for the Scotland national team. His usual position was tighthead prop and he was known as a strong scrummager. Career Club Murray played most of his club rugby with Glasgow Southern (now known as GHA after amalgamation with Hutchesons' Aloysians) before he went on to join Glasgow Hawks and then a professional contract with Glasgow Warriors. Gary Ivan Mercer (born 22 June 1966) is a New Zealand rugby league and rugby union coach and former professional rugby league footballer.
