Nyköping Municipality in Sweden held a municipal election on 17 September 2006. Results The number of seats remained at 61 with the Social Democrats winning the most at 26, a drop of three from 2002. Nyköping Municipality
Nyköping Municipality () is a municipalities of Sweden, municipality in Södermanland County in southeast Sweden. Its seat is located in the city status in Sweden, city of Nyköping, which is containing a majority of the residents. Its southern tip in the district of Tunaberg is the southernmost point of mainland Svealand, one of the three original crowns forming Sweden. Nyköping is the administrative capital of Södermanland and hosts both the governors' residence and the regional council. The municipality was created in 1971 with the amalgamation of the ''City of Nyköping'' and a great number of other municipalities. It was split up in three parts in 1992, when Gnesta Municipality and Trosa Municipality were created. Vrena (local pronunciation ''Vréna'') is a locality situated in Nyköping Municipality, Södermanland County, Sweden with 630 inhabitants as of 2015. Geography Vrena is located between the lakes of Hallbosjön and Långhalsen along national road 52. The larger lake of Yngaren is also close. The area is surrounded by lakes in multiple directions and is situated on a narrow branch of elevated land that separates the various Sörmlandic lake basins. Vrena's shorelines are at about of elevation. The village is about northwest from downtown Nyköping and south of the smaller town of Flen. The fully open sea is about to the southeast. Jönåker
Jönåker is a locality situated in Nyköping Municipality, Södermanland County, Sweden with 617 inhabitants in 2010. Jönåker is known locally for being situated right on a steep hill by local standards and the trading house, the so-called "Kalle in the hill" former gas station (). The railway passes through Jönåker, but trains do not stop there, instead twisting around the hill on the route between Nyköping and Norrköping. Elections Jönåker forms the Lunda electoral district in Nyköping Municipality, named after the local church atop the hill that Jönåker sits beneath.
