The 2005–06 Maltese Second Division (known as BOV Second Division 2005-06 due to sponsorship reasons) started on 24 September 2005 and ended on 8 May 2006. Maltese Second Division
The Maltese Second Division (also known as the BOV Second Division due to sponsorship reasons) was the third-highest division in Maltese football until 2020 when it was merged with the Maltese Third Division to create the National Amateur League. Structure 13 clubs formed the league and each played every other club twice. Three points were awarded for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss. At the end of the season, the top two teams were promoted to the First Division, while the bottom two were relegated to the Third Division. Tarxien ( ) is a town in the Port region of Malta, seat of the Port Regional Council. Its population stood at 8,583 in March 2014. The Gozo representative football team () represents the island of Gozo, Malta, in football. It is organised by the Gozo Football Association and its home stadium is the Gozo Stadium. It is not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA and therefore is not eligible to enter either the World Cup or the European Championship. Gżira () is a town in the Eastern Region of Malta. It is located between Msida and Sliema, also bordering on Ta' Xbiex. It has a population of 11,699 as of January 2019. The 2006–07 Maltese Third Division (referred to as the BOV Third Division for sponsorship reasons) was the league season of the Maltese Third Division which spanned from 24 September 2006 until 7 May 2007. Teams A total of 19 teams participated in the 2006–07 Third Division. Mdina Knights made their league debut after they were founded in 2006, while Qrendi rejoined the Maltese football league system after a nine-year absence following their last appearance in the 1996–97 Second Division season. The 2006–07 Maltese First Division (known as 2006–07 BOV First Division due to sponsorship reasons) started on September 3 and finished on May 13. Mosta and Ħamrun Spartans were the teams which were relegated from the 2005–06 Maltese Premier League. Qormi and Vittoriosa Stars were the promoted teams from 2005–06 Maltese Second Division. Ħamrun Spartans finished as champions and returned to the Premier League, having just been relegated. Mqabba were also promoted as runners-up. San Ġwann and Naxxar Lions were relegated to the Second Division. The 2004–05 Maltese First Division (known as the MIA First Division for sponsorship reasons) started on 5 September 2004 and finished on 15 May 2005. Ħamrun Spartans were promoted back to the Premier League after just one season away, following their relegation alongside Balzan Youths in the 2003–04 Premier League season. Mosta joined Ħamrun in securing place in the Premier League. Balzan suffered a consecutive relegation, and alongside Gozo were relegated to the 2005–06 Second Division.
