2005–06 Division 1 Season (Swedish Ice Hockey)
2005–06 was the seventh season that Division 1 functioned as the third-level of ice hockey in Sweden, below the second-level HockeyAllsvenskan and the top-level Elitserien (now the SHL). Format The league was divided into six regional groups. In each region, the top teams qualified for the playoffs, from which the winners advanced to the Kvalserien till HockeyAllsvenskan, for the opportunity to be promoted to the HockeyAllsvenskan. The bottom teams in each group were forced to play in a relegation round against the top teams from Division 2 in order to retain their spot in Division 1 for the following season. These were also conducted within each region. Division 1 (Swedish Ice Hockey)
Hockeyettan is the third tier of ice hockey in Sweden. As of the 2015–16 Hockeyettan season, 2015–16 season, the league consists of 39 teams divided geographically into four groups. Hockeyettan operates a system of promotion and relegation with HockeyAllsvenskan and Division 2 (Swedish ice hockey), Division 2. From 1944 to 1975, Division I was the highest league in the Swedish ice hockey system, but with the creation of Swedish Hockey League, Elitserien (now the SHL) in 1975, it became the second tier. Division I was further relegated to third-tier status in 1999 as HockeyAllsvenskan was spun off into a standalone league, but was frequently written as "Division 1" on the Internet, as it was pronounced "Division One". The league was renamed Hockeyettan for the 2014–15 Hockeyettan season, 2014–15 season. Storfors AIK
Storfors AIK is a Swedish football club located in Piteå. Background Since their foundation in 1931 Storfors AIK has participated mainly in the middle and lower divisions of the Swedish football league system. The club's best season was in 1966 when they won Division 3 Norra Norrland Övre which was then the third tier of Swedish football. However, Storfors lost the two legged promotion play-offs with Skellefteå AIK 1–3 on aggregate and missed out on promotion to Division 2. The club currently plays in Division 3 Norra Norrland which is the fifth tier of Swedish football. They play their home matches at the Hedens IP Storfors in Piteå. Falu IF
Falu Ishockeyförening (literally ''Falu Ice Hockey Association'') or Falu IF is an ice hockey club located in the Swedish city of Falun in Dalarna. The club currently plays in the Western group of Hockeyettan, the third tier of the Swedish ice hockey system, and plays their matches in Lugnets Ishall with a capacity for 2500 spectators. The most successful season during this period was 1983/1984 when they reached Allsvenskan, which at that time was a playoff series for Division I. Falu IF's junior team has played in J18 Region and J20 Region during most seasons in the 2010s. The club also has a women's team that competes in the Nationella Damhockeyligan, where they have been very successful. The association's home arena is Lugnets Ishall, located at Lugnet in Falun. Borlänge Hockeyförening (literally ''Borlänge Hockey Association'') or Borlänge HF is a Swedish ice hockey club located in Borlänge. The club has origins in IF Tunabro, founded in 1961, which played three seasons in Sweden's top hockey league (then called Division I) from 1971 but in 1974 was demoted to the second tier (then called Division 1) and in 1977 was further demoted to the third tier (then Division 2).
