2004–05 UPC-ligaen Season
The 2004–05 UPC-ligaen was the 66th season of Norway's premier ice hockey league, GET-ligaen, Eliteserien, which as of this season became known as the GET-ligaen, UPC-ligaen after UPC Broadband, UPC had acquired the naming rights for five years. Vålerenga Ishockey, Vålerenga won both the League Championship and the List of Norwegian ice hockey champions, Norwegian Championship, completing their nineteenth "double (association football), double". A total of ten teams contested the league, including newcomers IK Comet, Comet who competed at the highest level for the first time. The regular season commenced on 19 September 2004 and concluded on 20 February 2005. Vålerenga clinched their twenty-fifth league title after winning 3–2 in overtime (ice hockey), overtime against the Sparta Warriors on 17 February. GET-ligaen
EliteHockey Ligaen (EHL) is the premier Norwegian ice hockey league, organised by the Norwegian Ice Hockey Association. It comprises 10 clubs and works on the premise of promotion and relegation, in which the two teams who placed last must play the top two teams from First Division (the league ranked immediately below) for the rights to play in the next Eliteserie season. Teams from the EHL can participate in the IIHF's annual Champions Hockey League (CHL), competing for the European Trophy. Participation is based on the strength of the various leagues in Europe (excluding the European/Asian Kontinental Hockey League). Going into the 2022–23 CHL season, the EHL was ranked 11th among leagues in Europe, allowing them to send their top team to compete in the CHL. Stjernen Hockey
Stjernen Hockey is a Norway, Norwegian ice hockey team based in Fredrikstad, Norway. They currently play in the EliteHockey Ligaen. They play their home games in Stjernehallen. Their team colours are red and white. History Stjernen was founded in 1960 when the boys club "the Star" simply translated their name to Norwegian to comply with the rules of the association to begin play in the league system. After ten years of playing on an outdoor rink, or hiring ice time from local rivals Sparta Sarpsborg, Stjernen got their own arena in 1970 when Stjernehallen was officially opened. With a good youth organisation to go with the new facilities, Stjernen soon started to climb in the leagues and in 1974 they reached the first division for the first time in club history. Tomáš "Vosa" Sršeň (born August 25, 1966) is a former Czechoslovakian professional ice hockey left wing who played two games in the National Hockey League for the Edmonton Oilers during the 1990–91 season. The rest of his career, which lasted from 1984 to 2011, was mainly spent in the Czech Republic. Internationally Sršeň played for the Czech national team at several international tournaments, including the 1994 Winter Olympics. Tomi Pöllänen (born 26 May 1978 in Joensuu) is a Finnish former professional ice hockey forward. Career Early career He started his career in 1993, playing for Jokipojat at junior level and was promoted to its Mestis-team in front of the 2000–01-season. The year after he got transferred to KooKoo in the same league, where he became the league's top scorer with 28 goals and made the All-Star team. Ilya Dubkov (born February 17, 1972) is a Russian former professional ice hockey center forward who spent most of his career playing in Scandinavian leagues. Playing career After a year with the Russian team CSKA Moscow, 21-year-old Ilya Dubkov left Russia and moved to Roanoke, Virginia. In Virginia Dubkov played four seasons with Roanoke Express in the ECHL, before getting three appearances with AHL team Hamilton Bulldogs from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
