2004–05 Slovak Extraliga Season
The Slovak Extraliga 2004–05 was the twelfth regular season of the Slovak Extraliga, the top level of professional ice hockey in Slovakia. During the 2004–05 NHL lockout several Slovak players returned to their homeland, including Pavol Demitra, Marián Hossa, Marián Gáborík (all in HK Dukla Trenčín), Miroslav Šatan and Ľubomír Višňovský (both in HC Slovan Bratislava), Michal Handzuš, Richard Zedník and Vladimír Országh (all in HKM Zvolen, HKm Zvolen), Ladislav Nagy and Martin Štrbák (both in HC Košice), and Žigmund Pálffy (in HK 36 Skalica). Regular Season

Martin Štrbák
Martin Štrbák (born January 15, 1975) is a Slovak former ice hockey defenceman, who last played for HC Košice. Biography Štrbák played in the 1989 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a youth ice hockey team from Czechoslovakia. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the 9th round of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft, and also played for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the ( 2003–04) season. Štrbák was part of the Slovakian team which won the 2002 IIHF World Championships. Štrbák was a player for the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl teams which won back-to-back Russian Super League championships in 2002 and 2003. MHC Martin
MHA Martin is a professional ice hockey team playing in the Slovak 1. Liga. History The club was established in 1932 as Slávia Martin. Later the name was changed to Sokol, ŠK, ZŤS, Hutník, Martimex ZŤS, Martimex and MHC Martin (2000–2010). The Slávia, Sokol, ŠK (Športový klub - Sport Club), TJ (Telovýchovná jednota - bodybuilding unity) names are common names meaning sport organisation in Slovakia or Czechoslovakia. The names Hutnik, ZŤS and Martimex are connected to heavy industry companies, a major employer in the region from the 1930s to the 1990s, which was a general sponsors. HK Aquacity ŠKP Poprad
HK Poprad is a professional ice hockey team in the Slovak Extraliga, the top ice hockey league in Slovakia. It plays its games in Poprad, Slovakia. The squad's greatest successes include 2nd place in the Slovak Extraliga in 2006, 2011 and 2021. The team finished in the standings of the 2023-2024 season in 1st place, with a record of 27 wins and 15 losses. The club is nicknamed ''Kamzíci'', which means "Chamoises" in Slovak. Hokejový Klub Nitra is a professional ice hockey club based in Nitra, Slovakia. The club has been a member of the Slovak Extraliga since the 2003–04 season and winner of Slovak Extraliga in the 2015–16 season and 2023–24 season. History The club was founded in 1931 under the name AC. Their first trophy which they won was the Tatra Cup in 1934.
