2004–05 Pakistan Premier League
The 2004–05 Pakistan Premier League season was the inaugural season of Pakistan Premier League, the top tier of Football in Pakistan, Pakistani football. The season started on 28 May 2004 and concluded on 13 October 2004. Formation The league was created as a replacement for Tournament#Group stage, group stage based National Football Championship (Pakistan), National Football Championship. The new Pakistan Football Federation, PFF president, Faisal Saleh Hayat, decided that it was time for Pakistan to have a football league. He felt that domestic football had been neglected in the past and the national team had suffered as a consequence. A good example of this was that national champions rarely played in AFC Club Competitions Ranking, AFC club competitions, and the Pakistan national team was one of the worst in the world. Pakistan Premier League
The Pakistan Premier League (PPL; ) is a Pakistani semi-professional league for men's football clubs. The top tier of the Pakistan football league system, the PPL operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the PFFL B Division. The league has remained inactive since the end of the 2014–15 season. The 2018–19 season was held in between after three years of inactivity, however it was reportedly not recognised by FIFA and AFC, as it was completed under a non-FIFA recognised body a month before the termination of the event. Since inception of the Pakistan Premier League in 2004, four clubs have won the title: Khan Research Laboratories (5) WAPDA (4), Pakistan Army (2) and K-Electric (1). Imran Hussain (; born on March 10, 1981) is a Pakistani former footballer who played as a striker. He played for Pakistan Army F.C. throughout his career, and made his international debut in 2005 against India. Hussain won the golden boot in 2005–06 Pakistan Premier League season, scoring 21 goals in 22 games. Club career Hussain played for Pakistan Army throughout his career, starting his career in 2002. He scored 4 goals in a match in his first season at the 2002 PFF National Challenge Cup. In 2004, Hussain featured in the National Youth Football Championship. Afghan Football Club Chaman, or simply AFC Chaman, is a Pakistani professional football club based in Chaman, Balochistan, a border city of Pakistan near Afghanistan. The club last competed in the Pakistan Premier League. History Early years The club was founded in 1960 as Afghan Agency Chaman. The Nazim of Chaman Abdul Qayyum Khadakoo was one of the founding members of the club. Khuda Bakhsh (born 15 June 1980) is a Pakistani former footballer who played as a forward. Early life Bakhsh was born on 15 June 1980 in Jacobabad, in the Sindh province of Pakistan. He started his football career at school level at the age of ten with Ghazi Abbas Football Club, and later joined the Shaheed Abdul Rehman Football Club. Club career Allied Bank: 1999–2000 After first representing the Sindh Government Press team, Bakhsh moved to Allied Bank Limited (ABL) in 1999. He scored his first goal for the club in the finals of the 1999 National Football Challenge Cup, scoring the equaliser against Khan Research Laboratories. Baloch Football Club Quetta is a football club based in Quetta, Pakistan. It last competed in Pakistan Premier League, after gaining promotion from 2020 PFF League. History In 2004, Baloch FC Quetta became one of the founding members of the Pakistan Premier League. The club was relegated at the end of the season after finishing 14th in the table.
