2004–05 Blackpool F.C. Season ...
The 2004–05 season was Blackpool F.C.'s 97th season (94th consecutive) in the Football League. It was also their fourth consecutive season in the third tier of English football. They finished in sixteenth place. Scott Taylor was the club's top scorer for the second consecutive season, with fourteen goals (twelve in the league, one in the FA Cup and one in the League Cup). It was Colin Hendry's first season as manager, having been hired in June 2004. The 2004–05 season was the 125th season of competitive football in England. Overview *2004–05 was the first season to feature the rebranded Football League. The First Division, Second Division and Third Division were renamed the Football League Championship, Football League One and Football League Two respectively. Football League One
The English Football League One, known as Sky Bet League One for sponsorship reasons, or simply League One, is a professional association football league in England. EFL League One is the second-highest division of the English Football League and the third tier overall in the English football league system, after the Premier League and the EFL Championship. Owen Oyston
Owen John Oyston (born 3 January 1934) is an English businessman best known as the former majority owner of Blackpool F.C., Blackpool Football Club. Oyston was convicted of rape and indecent assault of a 16-year-old girl in 1996. He served three years and six months of a six-year sentence in prison. He was released after a judicial review of the parole board's refusal to grant parole. On 25 February 2019, Oyston and his daughter, Natalie Christopher, were removed from the board of Blackpool Football Club. Early life Oyston was born in County Durham, but his family moved to Blackpool when he was two. He was educated at St Mary's Catholic Academy, St Joseph's College in the town. He opted out of further education at sixteen and started his career as an actor. Karl Oyston
Karl Samuel Oyston (born 20 February 1968) is an English businessman and the former chairman of Blackpool Football Club. Oyston took over the chairmanship at Blackpool from his mother, Vicki Oyston, in 1999. Mrs Oyston had taken over three years earlier when her husband Owen, Karl's father, was jailed for six years in 1996 for rape and indecent assault. The ''Sunday Times'' Rich List listed the Oystons' wealth at £100 million. At the time of Oyston's appointment, Blackpool were in the third tier of the Football League. At the end of the following 1999–2000 campaign, they were relegated to the bottom tier. At the first time of asking, they returned to the Second Division, where they remained for the next six seasons. In 2007 they were promoted to the second tier. Colin Hendry
Edward Colin James Hendry (born 7 December 1965) is a Scottish football coach and former professional footballer. Hendry, who played as a defender, notably played in the Premier League for Blackburn Rovers, with whom he was part of the title-winning side of 1995. He also played top flight football in both England and Scotland for Dundee, Manchester City, Rangers, Coventry City and Bolton Wanderers, as well as stints in the Football League with Preston North End and Blackpool. He earned 51 caps for Scotland, scoring three times, and was part of the Tartan Army's Euro 96 and World Cup 98 squads. Following on from retirement, Hendry took over as Blackpool manager and later had a spell in charge of Clyde. Scott Taylor (footballer Born 1976)
Scott James Taylor (born 5 May 1976) is an English football coach and former professional footballer. As a player, he was a striker who notably played in the Premier League for Bolton Wanderers. He also played in the Football League for Millwall, Rotherham United, Blackpool, Tranmere Rovers, Stockport County, Plymouth Argyle, Milton Keynes Dons, Brentford and Rochdale. He played in non-league football with Grays Athletic and Lewes. He later had a spell with Staines Town where he was also the club's assistant manager. Playing career Taylor started his professional career at Millwall where he played 28 games before being signed by Bolton for £150,000 in March 1996. Taylor failed to break into the Bolton side and only managed to score three goals in all competitions. The Football League
The English Football League (EFL) is a league of professional football clubs from England and Wales.
