FC Nitra
FC Nitra is a Slovak association football club, playing in the town of Nitra. Established in 1909, FC Nitra is one of the oldest football clubs in Slovakia. History Czechoslovak era Nitra were promoted and relegated 4 times from the Czechoslovak First League with their longest stay being 5 years (1979–1984, 1986–1991). Nitra came close to clinching the title in 1962 only to lose out by 3 points to Dukla Prague. This year was most successful in club history because they reached also Mitropa Cup final. The 2005–06 Slovak First Football League (known as the Slovak Corgoň Liga for sponsorship reasons) was the 13th season of first-tier football league in Slovakia, since its establishment in 1993. It began on 16 July 2005 and ended on 31 May 2006. FC Artmedia Bratislava were the defending champions. Format changes The season was a last season where they competed 10 teams, because as the organization of Corgoň Liga decided that the league expanded to 12 teams into following season. Therefore, the three teams from the 2. Liga was promoted to Corgoň Liga. Teams A total of 10 teams was contested in the league, including 9 sides from the 2004–05 season and one promoted from the 2. FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce – Vráble is a Slovakia, Slovak Association football, football team, based in the town of Zlaté Moravce. The club was founded on 22 January 1995. History From the club's establishment in 1995 until 2004, they played in various regional competitions. In 2004 they were promoted to the Slovak Second Division, and then in the 2006–07 season were promoted to the Corgoň Liga, and won the Slovak Cup, beating FC Senec 4–0. This earned them place in the first qualifying round of the 2007–08 UEFA Cup.
