2004 Tirreno–Adriatico
The 2004 Tirreno–Adriatico was the 39th edition of the Tirreno–Adriatico cycle race and was held from 10 March to 16 March 2004. The race started in Sabaudia and finished in San Benedetto del Tronto. The race was won by Paolo Bettini of the Quick-Step team. Paolo Bettini
Paolo Bettini (born 1 April 1974) is an Italian former champion road racing cyclist, and the former coach of the Italian national cycling team. Considered the best classic cycle races, classics specialist of his generation, and probably one of the strongest of all times, he won gold medals in the 2004 Athens Olympics road race and in the 2006 UCI Road World Championships, 2006 and 2007 UCI Road World Championships – Men's road race, 2007 World Road Race Championships. He is nicknamed ''Il Grillo'' ("the cricket") for his repeated sudden attacks and his Sprinting specialist (cycling), sprinting style. He gained prominence by winning Liège–Bastogne–Liège in 2000 and 2002. Giuliano Figueras (born 24 January 1976 in Naples) is an Italian former professional road bicycle racer. He turned professional in 1998 with Mapei team and won a stage of the Tour de Langkawi that year. In 1999 and 2000 Figueras had 7 wins including a stage of the Giro di Romandia. Michael Boogerd
Michael Boogerd (born 28 May 1972) is a Dutch former professional road bicycle racer. He was one of the leaders of a generation of Dutch cyclists in the late 1990s and early 2000s, together with teammate Erik Dekker and female cyclist Leontien van Moorsel. Career Boogerd was born and grew up in The Hague. In primary school, he was in the same class as later professional tennis player Richard Krajicek. He began his professional career in 1994, joining ''WordPerfect''. In 1995 the team changed name to ''Novell'', before Rabobank in 1996 became main sponsor and name for the team. Boogerd stayed with the team his entire career. Stuart O'Grady (born 6 August 1973) is a retired Australian road bicycle racer, who rode as a professional between 1995 and 2013. Igor Astarloa Askasibar (born March 29, 1976) is a retired cyclist from Spain. Career Astarloa turned professional with the Italian cycling team and enjoyed his best season in 2003 with team when he won the Flèche Wallonne and the road race title at the World Cycling Championships at Hamilton, Canada.
