2004 NACAC Under-23 Championships In Athletics
The 3rd NACAC Under-23 Championships in Athletics were held in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, on July 30-August 1, 2004. For the first time the event was open for athletes younger than 23 years rather than 25 years. A detailed report on the results was given. Medal summary Medal winners are published. Esteban Santiago (athlete)
On January 6, 2017, a mass shooting occurred at Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport in Broward County, Florida, United States, near the baggage claim in Terminal 2. Five people were killed while six others were injured in the shooting. About 36 people sustained injuries in the ensuing panic. Esteban Santiago-Ruiz, who flew in to the airport from Alaska and committed the shooting with a Walther PPS 9mm semi-automatic pistol, was taken into custody by a Broward County Sheriff's Office (BSO) deputy within 85 seconds after he started shooting. The shooting from start to finish lasted 7080 seconds. Santiago was later diagnosed with schizophrenia and pleaded guilty to avoid possible execution. On August 17, 2018, Santiago was sentenced to five consecutive life sentences plus 120 years in prison. James Kyle Farmer (born August 17, 1990) is an American professional baseball infielder for the Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball (MLB). He previously played for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds. Career Amateur sports Farmer graduated from the Marist School in Atlanta, Georgia, where he played baseball and football. Wallace Spearmon Jr. (born December 24, 1984, in Chicago, Illinois, USA) is a retired American sprint athlete, who specializes in the 200 meters. He is a two-time NCAA outdoor champion in the 200 m and won the silver medal in the event at the 2005 World Championships in Athletics. He has a personal best of 19.65 seconds for the distance, making him the ninth fastest 200 meter runner of all time, and he formerly held the indoor American record. He has won the bronze medal twice at the World Championships in Athletics in 2007 and 2009. He also finished third at the 2008 Summer Olympics, but was later disqualified for stepping out of his lane. Brendan Kyle Akeem Christian (born 11 December 1983) is a sprinter from Antigua and Barbuda who specializes in the 200 metres. Born in Antigua, he is the son of Donald Christian who competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal as a cyclist. His personal best 100 metres time is 10.09 seconds, achieved in June 2009 in Nivelles. He is also a holder of the Antiguan and Barbudan record in 4 x 100 metres relay with 39.90 seconds. Marvin Anderson (born 12 May 1982) is a Jamaican sprint athlete. He finished sixth in the 200m final at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka where he also won a silver medal in the 4 × 100 m relay team for Jamaica. He is a former student of Duncans All Age and William Knibb Memorial High School. Anderson represented Jamaica at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
