2004 Copa América Group C
Group C of the 2004 Copa América was one of the three groups of competing nations in the 2004 Copa América. It comprised Brazil national football team, Brazil, Chile national football team, Chile, Costa Rica national football team, Costa Rica, and Paraguay national football team, Paraguay. Group play ran from 8 to 14 July 2004. Paraguay won the group and faced Uruguay national football team, Uruguay—the best-ranked third-placed team—in the quarter-finals. Brazil finished second and faced Mexico national football team, Mexico—the winners of 2004 Copa América Group B, Group B—in the quarter-finals. Costa Rica finished third and faced Colombia national football team, Colombia, the winners of 2004 Copa América Group A, Group A, in the quarter-finals. 2004 Copa América
The 2004 Copa América was the 41st edition of the Copa América, the South-American championship for international association football teams. The competition was organized by CONMEBOL, South America's football governing body, and was held in Peru, who hosted the tournament for the sixth time, from 6 to 25 July. The tournament was won by Brazil in a shootout over Argentina. This made Brazil hold the World Cup and Copa América titles simultaneously for the second time in history, as happened after 1997 Copa América. There is no qualifying tournament for the final tournament. CONMEBOL's 10 South American countries participated, along with two more invited countries, making a total of twelve teams competing in the tournament. Ricardo González (footballer, Born 1974)
Ricardo Alonso González Fonseca (born 6 March 1974) is a Costa Rican former professional football goalkeeper who last played for Belén in the Primera División de Costa Rica. Club career Nicknamed ''el Gallinazo'', González was relegated with Sagrada Familia after the 1994-95 season and then played for Carmelita and Alajuelense for whom he kept a record successive clean sheets, totalling 758 minutes in the 2002 season. Carlos Gerardo Hernández Valverde (born 9 April 1982), known simply as Carlos Hernández, is a former association football in Costa Rica, Costa Rican football player who last played as an midfielder (association football), attacking midfielder. Hernández is Melbourne Victory's all time top scoring midfielder, with 39 goals in all competitions. Álvaro Alberto Saborío Chacón (; born 25 March 1982) is a Costa Rican former professional footballer, who played as a forward. Saborío originally retired in 2017 but returned months later.
