2003–04 Valencia CF Season
During the 2003–04 Spanish football season, Valencia CF, Valencia won the double of La Liga and the UEFA Cup. At the end of the season, manager Rafael Benítez left to manage English side Liverpool F.C., Liverpool and was succeeded by former Chelsea F.C., Chelsea, ACF Fiorentina, Fiorentina and Valencia manager Claudio Ranieri. Valencia CF enjoyed a marvellous season by winning the La Liga and UEFA Cup double. Francisco Rufete
Francisco Joaquín Pérez Rufete (born 20 November 1976) is a Spanish former footballer, and a manager. He played predominantly as a right winger with good dribbling ability, also being a player with a good workrate. He played with seven clubs during his professional career, including Barcelona (one game) and Valencia (two La Liga titles). Over 12 seasons, he amassed Spanish top-division totals of 269 matches and 23 goals. Rufete was also an international for Spain. Juan Ginés Sánchez Moreno (born 15 May 1972) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a striker. In a career almost entirely associated to Valencia – which he helped to two La Liga titles – and Celta, he scored 89 goals as a professional in 361 games. Miguel Ángel Angulo Valderrey (; born 23 June 1977) is a Spanish former professional footballer, currently manager of Valencia CF Mestalla. Predominantly an attacking midfielder, he was also able to play as a right winger and even as a right-back or a forward. Ricardo José Dognella Lima de Oliveira (; born 6 May 1980) is a Brazilian retired professional footballer who played as a striker. José Santiago Cañizares Ruiz (; born 18 December 1969) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. A product of Real Madrid's youth academies, he eventually joined the first team but proved unable to establish himself there, being loaned out twice. 2003–04 UEFA Cup
The 2003–04 UEFA Cup was won by Valencia in the final against Marseille. It wrapped up a league and UEFA Cup double for Valencia. Porto could not defend their title as they automatically qualified for the 2003–04 UEFA Champions League and also went on to win the final for their second European Cup title. Rubén Baraja Vegas (; born 11 July 1975) is a Spanish retired footballer, currently a manager. A complete central midfielder with good tackling, technique, and offensive qualities, together with accurate passing and goalscoring ability, he played mostly for Valencia during a 17-year professional career, being an essential figure in five of the club's major titles, which included two La Liga championships. Amedeo Carboni (; born 6 April 1965) is an Italian former footballer who played as a left-back.
