2003–04 National Division Three South
The 2003–04 National Division Three South was the fourth season (17th overall) of the fourth division (south) of the English domestic rugby union competition using the name National Division Three South. New teams to the division included Launceston who were relegated from the 2002–03 National Division Two while promoted clubs included Southend (champions) and Haywards Heath (playoffs) coming up from London Division 1 and Dings Crusaders as champions of South West Division 1. The league system was 2 points for a win and 1 point for a draw with the league champions going straight up into National Division Two and the runners up playing a playoff against the runners up from National Division Three North for the final promotion place. The season saw an incredibly tight title race between Blackheath and Launceston. National League 1
National One (last season known as National League 1 and previously known before September 2009 as National Division Two), is the third of three national leagues in the domestic rugby union competition of England. It was known as Courage League National Division Three when founded in 1987. Caldy are the current champions. The Rugby Football Union (RFU) approved a new structure for the National Leagues from the 2022–23 season. This division will be reduced to fourteen teams, playing each other on a home and away basis to make a total of 26 matches each. The champions are promoted to the RFU Championship and the bottom three teams are relegated to either National Two East, National Two North or National Two West depending on the geographical location of the team. Barking RFC is an English rugby union team based in Barking, east London and currently play in the ninth tier of the English rugby union league system, Essex 1. History Park Modern Old Boys The club was founded in 1930, under the name of Park Modern Old Boys. In 1926 the Park Modern School in Barking was founded and the headmaster decided that the school would play rugby, despite football being the most popular sport in the area. As a result, the Old Boys team was created four years later and won 16 out of 19 games in its inaugural season. Barking RFC Old Boys continued to prosper after the Second World War. In 1974 they were declared no longer an Old Boys team, and so were obliged to change their name to Barking Park RFC, which became Barking RFC in 1976. Westcombe Park RFC is a rugby football club based in Orpington in south-east London. The name of the club comes from the Westcombe Park area of what is today part of the Royal Borough of Greenwich, where the club was founded. The club played on fields in Lee, Shooter's Hill and Sidcup before the move to Orpington. Weston-super-Mare Rugby Football Club is an English rugby union team based in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset. Tabard Rugby Football Club is a rugby union club located in Radlett, Hertfordshire. The first XV currently play in London 3 North West, although the club spent more than a decade playing in the national divisions. League history When league rugby was created, Tabard was placed in London 2 North and in the early 1990s, Tabard won consecutive promotions, finding themselves in the newly created Courage League Division 5 in 1993-94, playing in the South division throughout its three years and were transferred to Courage League 4 South following the 1996 reorganisation, which became National League 2 South the following season. They remained in the fourth tier until relegation in 2004-05. The club has played in the regional London divisions ever since.
