2003 ASCAR Season
The 2003 ASCAR Season was the third season of United Kingdom-based NASCAR style stock car racing, originally known as ASCAR. From this season 'Days of Thunder' was adopted as a promotional brand inspired by the NASCAR based movie of the same name. It was used alongside the ASCAR brand for the 2003 season before taking over entirely from 2004. Teams and drivers Race calendar The season consisted of eight meetings with either one or two races taking place at each. The grid for the opening race of each meeting was set by a qualifying session with the second race grid being set by the finishing order of the first. NASCAR
The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, LLC (NASCAR) is an American auto racing sanctioning and operating company that is best known for stock car racing. It is considered to be one of the top ranked motorsports organizations in the world and is one of the largest spectator sports leagues in America. The privately owned company was founded by Bill France Sr. in 1948, and his son, Jim France, has been the CEO since August 2018. The company is headquartered in Daytona Beach, Florida. Each year, NASCAR sanctions over 1,500 races at over 100 tracks in 48 US states, as well as in Canada, Mexico, Brazil and Europe. NASCAR, and stock car racing as a whole, traces its roots back to moonshine runners during Prohibition in the United States, Prohibition, who grew to compete against each other in a show of pride. Andrew Kirkaldy (born 1 March 1976 in St Andrews) is a British racing driver and managing director of McLaren GT. Career Single-seaters Kirkaldy began his career competing in karting, winning the Scottish Junior Championship in 1989 and the Scottish Senior Championship in 1993. Rockingham Motor Speedway was a motorsport racing venue in Rockingham, Northamptonshire, Rockingham, Northamptonshire, England, United Kingdom, near the town of Corby. EuroSpeedway
The Lausitzring (formally known as the Dekra Lausitzring for ownership reasons) is a race track located near Klettwitz (a civil parish of Schipkau, Oberspreewald-Lausitz district) in the state of Brandenburg in northeast Germany, near the borders of Poland and the Czech Republic. It was originally named Lausitzring as it is located in the region of Lusatia, known as ''Lausitz'' in German, but was renamed EuroSpeedway Lausitz for better international communication from 2000 to 2010. The EuroSpeedway has been in use for motor racing since 2000. Among other series, DTM (German Touring Car Championship) takes place there annually. It also used to host the Superbike World Championship. Colin White (born 27 September 1956) is a British racing driver from Glastonbury, Somerset. He currently races in the Ginetta GT4 Supercup for his own CWS Racing team. Massimiliano "Max" Papis (born 3 October 1969) is an Italian professional motorsport driver who has competed in several top-level motorsports events such as Le Mans 24 Hours, Formula One and Champ Car. He has three Champ Car victories. He is the son-in-law of Emerson Fittipaldi. Papis also currently drives in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. Personal life Papis was born on 3 October 1969 in Como, Italy. He was raised in Italy and got an interest in car racing at a young age, winning several go-kart races and several rounds for racing clubs in Italy. Kieran Dynes
__NOTOC__ Kieran Dynes (born 18 December 1970) is an Irish auto racing driver. He last competed in the European Late Model Series. He has also raced in the NASCAR Busch Series (now Xfinity Series) and the ARCA Racing Series in the United States. Career American racing Dynes along with IndyCar legend Dario Franchitti are the only UK drivers ever to compete in both the NASCAR Xfinity and ARCA series. NASCAR In 2000, Dynes made his debut in the Busch Series alongside 2010 Daytona 500 and 2010 Brickyard 400 champion Jamie McMurray. John Mickel (racing Driver)
John Mickel (born 28 January 1971) is a British professional stock car racing driver and commentator. He has raced in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in the United States and the Pickup Truck Racing Series in the United Kingdom. He was also a commentator for Sky Sports' coverage of NASCAR racing in 2008 and 2009. Racing career Mickel, a second-generation driver, began racing at the age of ten in Ministox and won his first championship two years later. He soon moved to Superstox where he was named both World and European champion. Mark James Proctor (born 9 December 1968 in Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire) is a British former racing driver who competed in a wide range of championships. In the mid-1990s he raced rallycross, twice coming 2nd in his class in the British Rallycross Championship. In 1996 he switched to Eurocar BV8 series, coming 2nd in 1998 and 5th in the following 2 seasons. In 2001 the Stock Car Speed Association, ASCAR series brought US-style stock car racing to a wider UK audience, and Mark was a stalwart driver for several seasons, finishing in the series top 10 three times. However, for 2005 he entered the British Touring Car Championship for the first time, for the small Fast-Tec team in an ex-Rob Collard Vauxhall Astra, finishing 15th overall.
