2003 AFC–OFC Challenge Cup
The 2003 AFC–OFC Challenge Cup was the second edition of the AFC–OFC Challenge Cup, it was contested between Iran, winners of the 2002 Asian Games, and New Zealand, winners of the 2002 OFC Nations Cup. The match was originally planned as two-legged tie on 28 March in Auckland and 4 April in Tehran, but then postponed due to Iraq War. Finally, the match was played in one leg on 12 October 2003 in Tehran. Azadi Stadium
The Azadi Stadium (, ), opened as the Aryamehr Stadium (), is an all-seater football stadium in Tehran, Iran. The stadium was designed by Abdol Aziz Mirza Farman-Farmaian Architects and Associates (AFFA) with other parts of the sports complex based on plans by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, an American architectural, urban planning, and engineering firm. It was inaugurated on 17 October 1971 by Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, the late Shah of Iran; it is currently self-owned by Esteghlal and Persepolis. It is also the home stadium of the Iran national football team. It has a capacity of 78,116 spectators, as the result of conversion to all-seater stadium. The stadium is part of the larger Azadi Sport Complex. Hossein Kaebi
Hossein Kaebi (, born 23 September 1985) is an Iranian former professional footballer who last played for Sepidrood and Perspolis among other clubs in Persian Gulf Pro League. Club career Kaebi started his football in Esteghlal Ahvaz F.C. youth academy, before moving to Foolad. It was in this club that Croatian coach Vinko Begović quickly discovered him and soon he was in the first team line-up despite his tender young age. He was selected for the U17 team that played in the AFC U-17 Championship 2000. He was also selected for the national team soon after the Asian Championship. Kaebi started getting attention from European clubs at an early age and went on a 3-week trial at Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2003.
