2001–02 Welsh-Scottish League
Llanelli won the third and final Welsh-Scottish League. 2001–2002 League Table The top 5 Welsh teams plus Glasgow and Edinburgh qualified for next season's Heineken Cup. At the end of this season Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby left the Scottish-Welsh League; making the 2002–03 a nine team Welsh Premier Division. The bottom side Caerphilly RFC, Caerphilly thus avoided regulation. Results With 11 teams in the league it was impossible to have an even round system where each team played one another in a weekend. (One team would always have to sit out.) The fixture list was instead devised so that teams would fulfil their fixtures in weekend or mid-week slots. Each team would play 20 rounds in total. The first 4 or 5 rounds for each club were hosted jointly by the Celtic League (dependent on which Celtic League pool those teams were in). Llanelli RFC
Llanelli Rugby Football Club () is a Welsh rugby union club founded on 30 March 1872. The club's historic home ground was Stradey Park in Llanelli, but they moved in 2008 to the new Parc y Scarlets in adjacent Pemberton. The club song is " Sosban Fach", a Welsh song meaning "Little Saucepan", which is sometimes sung by the club's fans during matches as the club anthem. The team colours are scarlet and white. Following the 2003 regionalisation of Welsh rugby, Llanelli is now a feeder club to the Scarlets regional team. Brewery Field
Dunraven Brewery Field () is an 8,000 (1,100 seated) capacity sports stadium in Bridgend, Wales. It is the home ground of the rugby union team Bridgend Ravens. Bridgend Athletic RFC often use the ground for their home matches, as well as the Ospreys who sometimes play at the ground, including their age grade teams. Sports Rugby union Bridgend Ravens moved to The Brewery Field in 1920 after their former home, Quarella Ground, was acquired for building purposes. The club's first stay at the Brewery Field ended in the 1928/29 season, when the ground was purchased by a greyhound racing syndicate, who organised greyhound racing meetings from 1929 and was still active in 1932. Bridgend RFC returned in 1935, but were forced into exile once more in May 1949, after a rugby league team had signed up to take the lease of the ground. Dale Lynsey Manawa "Chief" McIntosh (born 23 November 1969) is a former Wales international rugby union player and now rugby union coach. He was born in Tūrangi, New Zealand. Gareth Wyatt (born 4 March 1977]) is a Welsh rugby union player who won two caps for the Wales national team. Education A fluent Welsh speaker, Wyatt attended Ysgol Gymraeg Llantrisant (Llantrisant Welsh Primary School) and later Ysgol Gyfun Llanhari Welsh comprehensive school. Club career Wyatt started his professional career at Pontypridd RFC, winning a regional contract at the beginning of the 2003 season with the Celtic Warriors. Jason Phillip Randall White (born 17 April 1978) is a Scottish former rugby union footballer. He was a utility forward who played in the second or back row of the scrum – lock, flanker, or number eight. White played at club level for Glasgow Caledonians (now known as Glasgow Warriors); the French Top 14 side ASM Clermont Auvergne; and English Premiership side Sale Sharks. Tommy Hayes (born 13 December 1973 in Tokoroa, New Zealand) is a Cook Island international rugby union player. He plays as a fly-half. Rugby Union career Amateur career Hayes started off with amateur club Waikato Rangers in New Zealand. As part of the Glasgow Warriors contract Hayes was allowed to play for the amateur side Glasgow Hawks when not on Warriors duty. The former Cook Islands international joined amateur side Moseley RFC for the second half of the 2006/07 season.
