2001–02 Phoenix Suns Season
The 2001–02 NBA season was the 34th season for the Phoenix Suns in the National Basketball Association. During the off-season, the Suns acquired All-Star point guard Stephon Marbury from the New Jersey Nets, re-signed former All-Star Suns guard and three-point specialist Dan Majerle, who was a member of the team when they appeared in the 1993 NBA Finals, and acquired John Wallace and Jud Buechler from the Detroit Pistons. Early into the regular season, Buechler was traded to the Orlando Magic in exchange for Bo Outlaw in November. The Suns got off to a 18–13 start to the regular season, but soon began to slip under .500 as the season progressed, as head coach Scott Skiles resigned after a 25–26 start, and was replaced by assistant and former Suns guard Frank Johnson. Scott Skiles
Scott Allen Skiles Sr. (born March 5, 1964) is an American former basketball coach and player. He coached the Phoenix Suns, Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks and Orlando Magic. A first-round draft pick out of Michigan State University, Skiles played ten seasons as a point guard in the National Basketball Association, NBA. He holds the NBA record for List of National Basketball Association players with most assists in a game, assists in one game with 30, set in his fifth season in the league and second with Orlando, in which he also earned the 1990–91 NBA season, 1990–91 NBA Most Improved Player Award. John Wallace (basketball)
John Gilbert Wallace (born February 9, 1974) is an American former professional basketball player and current broadcaster on MSG Networks. He also hosts a live stream and podcast called "Power Forward w/ John Wallace" on SportsCastr. A 6' 8" forward, Wallace played seven seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), in addition to stints in Greece and Italy. A 1992 graduate of Greece Athena High School in Rochester, New York, Wallace led Syracuse University to the NCAA championship game against the Kentucky Wildcats during his senior season in 1996. After his college graduation, Wallace was selected with the 18th pick in the 1996 NBA draft by the New York Knicks. Tony Delk
Tony Lorenzo Delk (born January 28, 1974) is an American former professional basketball player and college assistant coach. He last served as an assistant coach for the New Mexico State Aggies men's basketball team. During his playing days, he was team leader of the Kentucky Wildcats team that won the 1996 NCAA Championship Game. The 1996–97 NBA season was the 29th season for the Phoenix Suns in the National Basketball Association. Kevin Maurice Johnson (born March 4, 1966) is an American former professional basketball player and politician who served as the 55th mayor of Sacramento, California, from 2008 to 2016. 1987–88 Phoenix Suns Season
The 1987–88 Phoenix Suns season was the 19th season for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association and their first season under new ownership led by long-time associate and general manager Jerry Colangelo. The team was led by new head coach John Wetzel. Having missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons, Suns management made a midseason trade with Cleveland in attempt to return the Suns to postseason play. NBA Playoffs
The NBA playoffs is the annual Playoffs, postseason Tournament#Knockout tournaments, tournament of the National Basketball Association (NBA) held to determine the league champion. The Pacific Division is one of the three divisions in the Western Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Bo Outlaw
Charles "Bo" Outlaw (born April 13, 1971) is an American former professional basketball player. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, and is a 1989 alumnus of John Jay High School. Outlaw led the Mustangs to a 38–0 record his senior year before losing to Clear Lake High School in the state championship game. Outlaw played for South Plains College and the University of Houston.
