2000–01 Ottawa Senators Season
The 2000–01 Ottawa Senators season was the ninth season of the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League (NHL). This season saw the Senators place first in the Northeast Division, with 109 points. The Senators made the playoffs for the fifth consecutive season but they were upset in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals by the Toronto Maple Leafs, being swept in four games. Regular season Ottawa trailed only the Pittsburgh Penguins and New Jersey Devils with the most goals during the regular season (274). The Eastern Conference () is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Western Conference (NHL), Western Conference. The 2000–01 New Jersey Devils season was the 27th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 11, 1974, and 19th season since the franchise relocated from Colorado prior to the 1982–83 NHL season. William Raymond Muckalt (born July 15, 1974) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who is currently the head coach at Michigan Tech. He was previously the associate head coach at Michigan. He was the head coach and general manager of the Tri-City Storm of the United States Hockey League. Muckalt played in the National Hockey League for the Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators and Minnesota Wild from 1998 until 2003.
