2000–01 Liga Nacional De Fútbol Femenino
The 2000–01 Liga Nacional de Fútbol Femenino was the 13th season of the Primera División (women), Spanish women's football first division. Levante UD (women), Levante won its second title and earned the first Double (association football), Double in Spanish women's football with its 2001 Copa de la Reina de Fútbol, Copa de la Reina win the same season. Competition format The 56 teams were divided into four groups of 14 teams each one. The four group winners would qualify to the Final Four for deciding the league champion. The two first teams of each group and the best third placed teams would qualify for the Copa de la Reina de Fútbol. The Primera División de la Liga de Fútbol Femenino, currently known as the Liga F (finetwork Liga F for sponsorship reasons), is the highest level of league competition for women's football in Spain. It is the women's equivalent of the men's La Liga, and it is organized by the ''Liga Profesional Femenina de Fútbol (LPFF)''. As one league of the top six national leagues ranked by Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) coefficient, it is considered one league of the most important women's leagues in Europe. Starting with the 2021–22 edition, as determined by the UEFA women's coefficient, the top three teams will qualify for the UEFA Women's Champions League. CD Híspalis
Club Deportivo Híspalis is a Spanish football club from Seville founded in 1972. It is best known for its women's team, created in 1992, which currently plays in the Segunda División. History CD Híspalis was one of the eleven founding members of the reunified Superliga Femenina in 2002. For the first three seasons it ranked in the league's bottom half, but in 2004 it signed a collaboration with Sevilla FC to represent it in the Superliga, taking its name, crest and kit. Club Irex Puebla
Extremadura Unión Deportiva Femenino, formerly known as CF Puebla Extremadura and later as Extremadura Femenino CF, was a Spanish women football club from Almendralejo. History Extremadura Femenino was founded in Puebla de la Calzada, Badajoz in 1995 as Club de Fútbol Femenino Puebla. It won the national championship in 2000, beating AD Torrejón in the final, and it was the runner-up in 1999 in 2002, second to CD Oroquieta and Levante UD. CFF Puebla also reached the national cup's final in 2001 and 2005, but lost both times to Levante. Sporting Plaza de Argel Alicante Club de Fútbol, also known formerly as Sporting Plaza de Argel or Hércules CF Femenino, is a Spanish women's football club from Alicante currently playing in Segunda División's Group 4. History Founded in 1995, it was the first organized women's football team in the city. In 1997 Sporting Plaza de Argel promoted to the second category for the first time, consolidating itself in the top part of the table throughout the following decade, but without attaining promotion the Superliga to date. Terrassa Futbol Club is a Spanish football team based in Terrassa, Barcelona, in the autonomous community of Catalonia. CE Sabadell (femení) is the women's football team of CE Sabadell. It is the women's section of CE Sabadell. History CE Sabadell was one of the founding members of the Spanish league in 1988. Unió Esportiva L'Estartit Costa Brava is a Spanish women's football club from L'Estartit, Girona. History Founded in 1992 as the women football section of an homonym football club, it became an independent club following its disappearance. In 2007 the team was promoted to the Superliga by beating SD Reocín and CD Rayco in the promotion play-offs. In its debut season L'Estartit ended in the ninth position, just one point short from qualifying for the Copa de la Reina. In 2010 it qualified for the cup, where it was defeated in the first round by Levante UD. In 2012 L'Estartit ended fourth to last and was relegated after five years in top flight. RCD Espanyol Femení (Real Club Deportivo Español) is the women's association football, women's football section of RCD Espanyol and was founded in 1970. History RCD Espanyol was one of the pioneering teams in women's association football, women's football in Spain, playing its first match as early as 1970.
