2000–01 Cypriot Third Division
The 2000–01 Cypriot Third Division was the 30th season of the Cypriot third-level football league. ASIL Lysi won their 1st title. Format Fourteen teams participated in the 2000–01 Cypriot Third Division. All teams played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season crowned champions. The first three teams were promoted to the 2001–02 Cypriot Second Division and the last three teams were relegated to the 2001–02 Cypriot Fourth Division. Cypriot Third Division
The Cypriot Third Division (Greek language, Greek: Πρωτάθλημα Γ΄ Κατηγορίας) is the third tier Association football, football league competition in Cyprus, run by the Cyprus Football Association. Each year, the top finishing teams of the league are promoted to the Cypriot Second Division, and the lowest finishing teams are relegated to the STOK Elite Division. History The Cypriot Third Division was held for the first time in the 1970–71 Cypriot Third Division, 1970–71 season as the third level of the Cypriot football. 2000–01 Cypriot Cup
The 2000–01 Cypriot Cup was the 59th edition of the Cypriot Cup. A total of 50 clubs entered the competition. It began on 11 November 2000 with the preliminary round and concluded on 12 May 2001 with the final which was held at GSP Stadium. Apollon Limassol won their 5th Cypriot Cup trophy after beating Nea Salamina 1–0 in the final. Format In the 2000–01 Cypriot Cup, participated all the teams of the Cypriot First Division, the Cypriot Second Division, the Cypriot Third Division and 8 of the 14 teams of the Cypriot Fourth Division. The competition consisted of six knock-out rounds. In the preliminary round and in the first round each tie was played as a single leg and was held at the home ground of one of the two teams, according to the draw results. All teams played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season crowned champions. The last three teams were relegated to the 2001–02 Cypriot Second Division. The champions ensured their participation in the 2001–02 UEFA Champions League and the runners-up in the 2001–02 UEFA Cup. The teams had to declare their interest to participate in the 2001 UEFA Intertoto Cup before the end of the championship. At the end of the championship, the higher placed team among the interested ones participated in the Intertoto Cup (if they had not secured their participation in any other UEFA competition).
