The County Antrim & District Football Association Senior Shield (more commonly known as the County Antrim Shield) is a football competition in Northern Ireland. The competition is open to senior teams who are members of the North East Ulster Football Association (also known as the County Antrim & District Football Association) (membership of which extends geographically beyond County Antrim itself), often plus intermediate teams who qualify via the Steel & Sons Cup, depending on the numbers required. For the 2010–11 and 2011-12 seasons, only the winners took part. The current Shield holders are Glentoran, who beat Larne 5–4 on penalties in the 2024–25 final, winning the trophy for the first time since the 2010–11 season. Colin Nixon
Colin Nixon (born 8 September 1978) is a retired footballer from Northern Ireland who was the technical director of Glentoran Academy. Son of Alice and Hugh Nixon, Colin has a large football related family and has three children. Playing career Nixon is the son of Hugh and Alice Nixon, and has five siblings and three children. Colin played for Glentoran for all of his professional career. He has mainly played at right back but can also play centre back. He is a Glentoran supporter, and a fan's favourite. In August 2000, he joined Scottish side Livingston on trial. However nothing materialised from the trial. 'Nicky' is Glentoran's record appearance holder with over 700 appearances, the 700th coming in November 2010 against Portadown at Shamrock Park. Glenn Ferguson (born 10 July 1969) is a Northern Irish former football player and manager. Ferguson amassed over 1,000 domestic appearances in a career where he played for Ards, Glenavon, Linfield and Lisburn Distillery, and scored a total of 563 goals, placing him 2nd behind Jimmy Jones (648) on the list of all-time goalscorers in Northern Irish football. He was also capped 5 times by Northern Ireland. In his 24-year career, Ferguson won 31 winner's medals. Wakehurst, previously known as Wakehurst Place, is a house and botanic gardens in West Sussex, England, owned by the National Trust but used and managed by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RBG Kew). It is near Ardingly, West Sussex in the High Weald (grid reference TQ340315), and comprises a late 16th-century mansion, a mainly 20th-century garden and, in a modern building, Kew's Millennium Seed Bank.
