2000 Categoría Primera B Season
The 2000 Categoría Primera B season, (officially known as the 2000 Copa Águila for sponsorship reasons) was the 11th season of Colombia's second division football league. Deportivo Pereira won the tournament for the first time and was promoted to the Categoría Primera A. Gustavo Iturburo, playing for Unión Magdalena, was the topscorer with 21 goals. Teams 16 teams take part in the season. The previous season's champions Real Cartagena was promoted to Primera A for the 2000 season. Unión Magdalena were relegated from Primera A at the end of the 1999 season after finishing in the bottom of the top tier's relegation table. Atlético Córdoba and Atlético Popayán did not take part of the tournament. Cúcuta Deportivo, Cúcuta 2001 changed its name back to Cúcuta Deportivo and Expreso Palmira, Palmira changed its name to Expreso Palmira. Categoría Primera B
Categoría Primera B, commonly referred to as Torneo BetPlay Dimayor due to Sponsor (commercial), sponsorship by online betting company BetPlay, is the second-division association football, football league in Colombia. The tournament was inaugurated on 29 January 1991. Format DIMAYOR has applied a new format from 2015 onwards because of the expansion to 20 teams in the Primera A tournament. The league will no longer have Apertura and Finalización seasons but rather a yearlong tournament with home and away games. The first phase of the tournament is everyone against everyone home and away games. The second is a two-groups phase with the 8 top teams from the season who play each other to determine the winners of each group. The winners of the two groups are both promoted to the Primera A and play the final in home and away games to determine the champion of the season. Alianza Petrolera
Alianza Petrolera Fútbol Club was a Colombian professional football team based in Barrancabermeja, Santander, that last played in the Categoría Primera A. The club was founded in 1991 and played in the Categoría Primera B until 2012. They played their home games at the Daniel Villa Zapata stadium. They also played home matches in the town of Guarne, Antioquia, in Yopal, Casanare and in Floridablanca. The club was dissolved in January 2024, with Alianza F.C. taking their place. History Alianza Petrolera was founded on 24 October 1990, entering the second-tier competition Categoría Primera B where they played from 1992 to 2012. Rionegro () is a city and municipality in Antioquia Department, Colombia, located in the subregion of Eastern Antioquia. The official name of the city is Ciudad Santiago de Arma de Rionegro.
